SOURCE: Error Code P0240 on 2001 Ford Windstar

The catilytic convertor is at fault and needs replacing.
Have it checked first for a 02 sensor can throw this code as well. If the convertor is turning red on the outside it is junk status. Also the engine will sound like its starving for fuel

Ford transit 2011 have code p0089 p1409 and air in the fuel line would it be a air leck or the sensors anyone ever have this problem and what was it thanks

The P0089 is a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) for a fault found with the fuel pressure regulator. The fuel pressure regulator regulates how much fuel is delivered to the fuel injectors. Error Code P1409 is defined as EGR Vacuum Regulator Solenoid Circuit Malfunction. This error code refers to a test to check the electrical function of the EGRVR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation Vacuum Regulator) solenoid

I have change pressure sensor DENSO 6100 on Nissan X-trial 2005 It was p0089 error code now I have two p0089 and p1275

code p 0089 refers to fuel pressure regulator---performance problem===causes fuel pressure regulator---mechanical fault
code p 1275 refers to heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) 1--response time===causes--- HO2S--fuel pressure--injectors--intake air leak--exhaust leak--MAF sensor
as the pressure regulator ( fuel pressure) appears in both codes I would be paying attention to that unit first

What does code p0240 mean

The code refers to the turbo boost pressure circuit range / or diminished performance. So ether the pressure sensor failing or the vacuum hoses are leaking somewhere.

I have a 2005 cobalt 2.2L. P0240 keeps coming up! I have changed the cat and both 02 sensors! And the codes still comes up! One day I ran some injector cleaner in the fuel tank and cleared the code and it...

code p0240 refers to manifold absolute pressure(MAQP) sensor B TC system--range /performance problem===causes---intake/exhaust leak---hose connections--MAP sensor
Check the exhaust system for leaks especially around the manifolds and gaskets. Check all vacuum hoses for leaks. Finally replace the MAP sensor. Run code reader to reset the CPU

Has codes p0240,p0100,p0089 replaced all sensors still getting codes

With the engine off and the battery negative cable disconnected, check all electrical connections at the o2 sensors, MAF and elsewhere. Under-hood temperatures tend to cause some oxidation on the terminals themselves. I've seen this issue with nearly every Volvo I've owned. Use electronics cleaner and dielectric grease on the connectors, especially on the MAF connector.

P0240 (Catalyst working below efficiency threshold) means the downstream (2nd) o2 sensor is not moving. The reason for this sensor's existence is pretty simple - detect catalyst efficiency and possibly failure in the field. The upstream sensor must be in good condition and not 'lazy', meaning it is slow to respond to the oxygen levels coming out of the exhaust. It must be quick to respond. The downstream o2 sensor, however, usually doesn't change state as much, meaning the catalyst is doing its job. The idea is that if that downstream sensor starts to mimic the upstream o2 sensor activity, catalytic function can be inferred to be less than normal. Ensure the connections are good on both sensors. Replacing only the upstream o2 sensor will not cure this. Catalytic convertor failure is rare in the field but if you have been running rich, it's possible a large quantity of unburned fuels have destroyed or eroded the substrate. The only way to tell is put a scan tool on the car and monitor both sensors, capturing any freeze frame data along the way. Upstream sensor should be rapidly changing state and downstream should be changing state much more slowly.

P0100 (MAF circuit - malfunction) usually points towards wiring issues or problems with the connector, especially if the MAF is known good.
P0089 (Fuel pressure - regulator) could be a worn fuel pump, clogged filter or the regulator itself. Have the fuel system pressure tested, verifying components along the way.

If all checks pass at this point, it is possible that the connections at the ECM itself need cleaning (do not unplug the ECM with the battery negative cable connected). If you perform this procedure do so with extreme caution and scrupulous cleanliness. Allow the cleaner to completely evaporate off the terminals or there could be a serious short condition that will destroy that 600 dollar computer.

Catalytic converter code bank 1 p0240

What I think Bank 1 usually refers to the O2 sensor before catalytic converter. I have been told in the past many thing can set it off. I have gotten them before for O2 sensor and took my negative battery cable off the batter and it cleared the code. Sometimes it comes back sometimes not. I did find some info.

One thing I need to add if you pull the cable off the battery and your radio has a antitheft program in it you will have to provide a code to get your radio working again.

Hi, you have provided trouble codes p0100 AND p1605.

Trouble Code: P0100

Mass Airflow Sensor Circuit Malfunction
Possible Causes:

Air Intake leaks located after the MAF sensor assembly MAF sensor signal circuit is open, shorted to ground or power MAF sensor has failed PCM has failed

Trouble Code: P1605

A/T Diagnosis Communication Line Malfunction

Possible Causes:

TCM communication line circuit is open or shorted to ground TCM communication line circuit shorted to VREF or power (B+) TCM or PCM has failed TSB 01-004 (01/01) contains information related to this code
For the P0100, check the connector on top of the MAF sesnor for looseness or corrosion. Connector is on top in piocture below. jturcotte_361.jpg

Service engine light on showing code p0089

Diagnostic trouble code P0089 - The ECM commands the Bosch high-pressure fuel pump to deliver a specific fuel rail pressure - that can vary up to 23,000 psi depending on load and speed. The actual pressure is monitored via the fuel rail pressure sensor. If the fuel rail pressure varies more than desired or if commanded fuel pump flow is 100mm3/second or less, DTC P0089 will set.

Corrective action includes measuring the fuel rail pressure using a Tech II scan tool, then compare that to commanded fuel rail pressure with the engine running at 2000 rpm. The difference must be less than 20 Mpa.

A blockage in the fuel tank or plugged fuel filter could cause this fault (excessive vacuum in fuel line). If there is less than 5 in Hg of vacuum when measured at the fuel pressure test port at 3000 rpm, the fuel pressure regulator could be defective, and may need to be replaced. The fuel pressure regulator (FPR) is a sub assembly located on the Bosch high-pressure fuel pump.
