SOURCE: Stalls when engne warms up

Your ECT (Engine Coolant Temp) sensor is bad. What's happening is at cold start it richens up the fuel mixture and as it warms up the ECM thinks it's still cold and essentially the "choke" is still on. Also check your coolant level. If you don't have enough coolant in you engine/radiator, the ECT doesn't know what to do so it thinks it's cold.

Start with basic testing of electrical circuits ! Does it crank ? meaning when you turn the key to the start position does the engine spin but doesn't start and run or it doesn't do anything when you turn the key to the start position ? Battery good , cables an connections ?

Just put a new computer on my 2004 dodge stratus and now the speedometer dont work and the gas gauge bounces from were i filled it up to empty and gas light comes on and fuel light comes on

You might have to do a ECU restart by doing the fallowing
1 disconnect the positive battery cable from the battery
2 press on the break for 10 seconds
3 return the positive cable to the battery
4 start car

Good luck!

The car is starting but when I take of the negative cable the car would shut of . It does'nt do it with the positive cable.

You are removing(disconnecting) the ground circuit from the electrical system. The ground is very critical in vehicles with computers. With the engine running the alternator supplies power even if the positive cable is disconnected. Why would you disconnect the battery with the engine running, anyway? Be careful, any sparks around a battery can cause it to explode.

How do i jump my 1997 dodge stratus

  • Ensure your Stratus's ignition is in the "Off" position, and turn off anything that uses battery power, such as lights, radio and heater blower. Park the booster car close enough to the dead car that you can connect the jumper cables to both batteries, but make sure the two vehicles aren't touching. Connect one red (+) clamp of the cables to the booster battery's positive terminal. Connect the other red clamp to the Stratus' "Remote Terminal." The terminal is located next to the air filter assembly, and is marked with a "+" and the word "Positive." Dodge uses these remote terminals to reduce the risk of explosion caused by sparks near the battery. Connect one of the black (-) cable clamps to the negative terminal on the booster battery. Connect the other black clamp to the negative "Remote Terminal" on the Stratus, located on the opposite side of the air filter assembly from the positive terminal. It is a marked with a "-" and the word "Negative."Start the booster car, if not already running, and apply slight pressure to the gas pedal to make it idle faster. Wait a few minutes and attempt to start the Stratus. If it cranks a little, but still won't start, continue charging the battery. Once the Stratus starts, leave it running and disconnect the jumper cables in reverse order of the way you attached them.

first of all not sure where you are but I can see it is colder there then where I am in Michigan first of all make sure your battery is fully charged and the second thing if there is a place where you can get a heated oil dip stick plug it in and it will help the engine with the cold start also put some dry gas in the gas tank as well but if all this fails and you can get it started with a jump and get it running while it is running take the positive side of the battery cable off and if the car dies again then it could be the alternator
