Steve, you need to provide a little more information, like year, class, etc. Since they are all rear or 4matic, it will only be on the left or the right side of the bell-housing of the transmission. Disconnect the battery and remove the bolts. Depending on the vehicle, some you have to remove a bolt for the engine mount and raise the engine on that side. In more extreme cases, the exhaust must come down. Without further details, I can't tell you exactly where it is or what is involved.

How to change the starter

I dont know what kind of vehicle you are talking about but if you are somewhat mechanically inclined they are usually very easy to remove. couple bolts and two or three wires to disconnect. depending on where your started is located, it can take ten minutes or even hours if you have to remove other parts to get to it

How to replace the starter on 1994 Grand Am?

The starter is underneath the alternator, its on the side of it, but to get to it you'll have to remove the alternator first. the best viewpoint of the starter is from underneath the car on the drivers side with a flashlight.

The starter is located on the flange that joins the engine to the gearbox. What you are looking for looks like this:-

Need to know the location of the starter trying to explain to a 17 year old where it is and how to remove

It is on the bottom passenger side of the engine at the rear. Follow the large power wire from the battery and you will see it. It is round and has a small round solenoid (or Bendix) on it. Make sure to: 1)disconnect the battery, 2) remove the wires from the starter one set at a time and mark them so you don't get them mixed up. Remove the two bolts (5/8" I think) and pull the starter out. Replace the solenoid also.

Need to know the location and how to change the starter on my 1999 oldsmoble aurora v-8

The starter is located beneath the intake manifold, disconnect the ground cable at your battery, remove the cover covering the intake assembly, disconnect fuel lines and any hoses and wiring connectors from the fuel injectors and any sensors, remove all the bolts from the intake asembly, and lift it up to gain access to the starter. You will have to replace the intake gaskets before reassembly. This is a fairly easy task it just looks complicated.

Also remove the air inlet tubing to the throttle body and whatever else may be in the way of lifting the intake. You dont have to neceesarily remove the intake just remove enough stuff lift intake up and support it up then replace your starter, its dry beneath the intake, no oil or coolant to mess with (time +/- 3 hours).

I hoped this has helped (remember rated this)

it is located on the drivers side underneath the van. you have to remove it from the underside of the car. you will need a 17 millimeter socket or wrench. Remove the ground cable before attempting to remove the starter.
