Why not use a meter, and the schematic to find the reasons
the dome light works in many ways,
the head light warning uses 2 inputs to do that "logic"
and 2 ways, key left in
and exiting car with HL on.
so the door switches are bad?, the FSM tells you how to fix this.
no FSM,? no schematic,
try alldata.com, its there. every word. and how to do tests.

a bad fuse/ just because they look good , don't make them good.
sorry!
they can have hair line cracks, we test them.
but if they look bad, they always are.... no lie that. (no china fuses)
and the ICU may need 2 or more fuses good to work
that becomes clearer with a real schematic. hard facts.

seems to me you lost power. to ICU. or?

the ICU can fail for many reasons, mostly not the ICU as many have found. (vast posts make parts sellers rich with $175 a pop)
shorts. top the list. and blow fuses. not tested
there are 2 ways to test a fuse.
ohmmeter (called continuity tests) using any DMM
or in circuit, 12v on both sides. (super easy to do and is rubber meets the road test)
(or even store bought fuse testers, useless to me with any DMM)

ill post later with and ICU drawing. any tech with a meter and a schematic can find the true cause in about 5min flat. (if a harness shorted) at least in 5min i know it is. finding the short takes more work , for that I use and ammeter. tells me exactly which wire is shorted, every time. usually and inspection of the corner of car that is shorted nets the damage, staring right back at me.. (hacks, or collision damage ) as you may know, hacks have no limits. (Prev owners brain childs) more later

btw 2 , the ICUs;(relic) are INFAMOUS for bad CAP.s' the leak the acid inside and even worse. They also just dry out, in cab temps that hit 200f easy, it has logic and with that power supply and filters, if the filter caps fail the logic goes, (nuts)

no hatchback so no rear wipers, ? right, so is front wipers, (i have the schematic) there is no Intermediate speed , just low high and itermitttant! do you mean Intermittant fails? this is key to fix.

    _-__-___-_ Oct 22, 2013

ok the MFG shows DX has intermittant option. the fuse 14 feeds the wipe switch input , key on ,its HOT., they power go to the hi/or low pins (as selected) then here is the full scope on wiper, includes upgrades. h t t p://honda-tech.com/showthread.php?p=49087731&styleid=2 ...... remove space in httpww

as you can see wipers and ICU are not related my guess is this car is new to you, and you didnt see the serial failures/? we can work chimes as new topic, its not as important

we have the schematic for the ICU, wiith that and a simple voltmeter we can find the cause, no mater what.

  • _-__-___-_
    _-__-___-_ Oct 30, 2013

the honda forum has the full FSM on line, in pdf and 1258 pages. the answer is in chapter 23, page 941, no my question, you stated 4 funtions failed, all 4 at once, 1 at a time per year, or PO sold you the car like this. there is no mid position, on wipes, this is intermittant. so do you in fact have the intermittant option?

  • _-__-___-_
    _-__-___-_ Oct 30, 2013

I will pick one at random ,dome. page 23-160 and 23-177 , the first question on page 160 is this a car in USA or Canada. you can not work on car, unless you known (market) , the dome stopped working, does that mean , driver door dont turn it on, or does that mean the lever on the side dont turn it on.... ?

  • _-__-___-_
    _-__-___-_ Oct 30, 2013

i really have nothing but quesitons, 1st do you know how to defeath the SRS air bag system before working near this area? page 161 in the FSM tells you how not to get injured. air bags can snap a persons neck.

  • _-__-___-_
    _-__-___-_ Oct 30, 2013

lets do the easy one, the dome light. lest say , the lamp glows in lamp on mode. 2 clicks. abut but does not glow, in the middle postion, on page 23-177 , see that the door switch grounds this center pin called. D, in the shematic, the same section shows. how to test the door switch, my FSM shows no HL left on warning feature that must be a EX only features. and my FSM skips. EX totally. The DX and EX have intermittant wipes, and the ICU schematic (USA) shows it is integral. to ICU , see next link.

  • _-__-___-_
    _-__-___-_ Oct 30, 2013

i see 1 post world wide for EX and HL nag. so it must have it. and if true. then again the left door jam switch is bad. clean it. they all go bad (filth) after 21 years, i bet this one post fixes 2 on your list..... fix center dome dead feature first.

  • _-__-___-_
    _-__-___-_ Oct 30, 2013

the canada EX has all different schematics and has DRL. so, not stated country, will make my answers wrong,

  • _-__-___-_
    _-__-___-_ Oct 30, 2013

and last the defroster (electric rear window heater) is what it is. and most dont work after 21years, but yes, the tests are 5min long.page 23-207, has 3 parts, the grid, the relay and the control. the first test is to (fuses 13/34 good) is connect the voltmeter to the grid wire. blk-green, (make sure both wires are attached, first , the blk wire on other end of grid must be grounded) do you have 12v here, with DEF turned on? y/n if yes, the grid is open (no zero ohms end to end) if not then its bad relay bad control. see next post line

  • _-__-___-_
    _-__-___-_ Oct 30, 2013

no 12v to grid, the relay as 4 pins, the blk-green is dead onrelay so check the fuse 34 is it 12v on both fuse pins, Yes, good , no./ fuse is blown. if the fuse is 12v both sides, then check both relay, coil pins. if the black relay pin is 12v, this gound wire is cut. (or bad) if black is 0v, then we last check, pin blue-yellow, if this is at 12v then the DEF conrtroler is fubar. if it is 0v then the relay is bad. Ill stop here, and post the schematic, its a very simple device. see drawing below. its not related to ICU at all.

"I have had the car since 1995",, so did they all fail at once, or serially,, drum roll.... if all at once, its a bad fuse or loose ground. what i do, is fix the most simple or the most accessable. most easy. and let reality find the answer. lets say the defrost is bad, and the contorller is dead,(is the light dead>?) then i find a bad ground to the def, controller, and i fix that and all other failures, are now gone. see? in the military we'd do that, (offline) but in a live shoot? wed fix what is the show stopper, in your case, Defrost? wipers work HL work... .so cant see out back of car is a safety issue. so fix that first. that is your call.

  • _-__-___-_
    _-__-___-_ Oct 30, 2013

now , i wonder , is the replaced ICU, for a EX, i read online at honda forum that some are unique, USA , DX not same as EX. so.... DX does not have HL minder, some years, they are the same, and the EX has a special harness to activeate this feature, but other years, its a unique, ICU. this is easy to lean go to honda.com and attempt to buy the ICU, the pn will be the same if it same. yours is 38600-SR3-A13 (NLA)l)

  • _-__-___-_
    _-__-___-_ Oct 30, 2013

working that idea is the suffix A11,A12 and A13 the 13 is and upgraded 12, the A11 is unique. (my wild guess is its DX only) looks to me like you can not mix A11 , to others.

  • Gardner Nov 12, 2013

fixkick,Thank you for all your help. As you sugested I checked all the fuses in the drivers foot area fuse box. then I checked all the fuses in the engine compartment fuse box. There was a 15 amp fuse labeled Interior light. It did not show as being "blown" but I could not get it to show as a good test on the meter. I replaced it with one of the orginal spares from the fuse box and...........everything works now. Sorry for the amount of time to repost but with a family and life, things take time. It has been 3 days now so I am keeping my fingers crossed to see if everything stays ok. I guess I should try to find out what caused the fuse to go bad but........perhaps old age and it just wore out. Take Care everyone !

all fuses looking bad , are bad (boom) all that look good, can in fact be tiny cracks, in the fuse path. very common. good, and no hurry , and good luck with your old honda.

SOURCE: can't find the fuse box under the driver's side dash on my 2000 suzuki grand vitara. my radio/clock not working and dome light does not come on when the driver's side door is opened.

Its below the Dashboard, on the left side of your knee. You have to use a torch & locate it from under the Dashboard, Its roughly near to the Clutch Pedal.
Here, it looks like this: (The Black one is the Fuse box) ba18901.jpg

No dash lights or tail lights on my 1994 honda accord ex

I have right now the same problem. I just pulled the fancy/shmancy radio head out of my (Honda) 1992 Acura Integra and the whole dash is now a mess. It had been professionally installed. The dome light now doesn't work, the "door open" warning lights stay on, the clock is messed up, etc.
I installed the fancy head in another car, in a 1992 Honda Civic. That works perfectly. Sounds like you need to find a professional installer to re-do your new head.
I think the dash lights and the taillights are on the same circuit/fuse.

On my 89 Accord there is a switch button that will raise and lower the headlights. The location is the 1st button switch to the right of the steering column and has a light symbol above. The rear window defrost switch is with this 3 button cluster.

My rear windows does not go all the way up on my 1992 Honda Accord. They stop with about 1/4 to 1/2 of an inch of space from the top. What can I look for?

Look to make sure the window seals have not come loose or ripped and is blocking window from going up..
Best remove the door guard and look at the window mechanism there might be something near the bottom causing a problem.
