Testimonial: "I have a 4 wheel drive Asuna Sunrunner which is essentially the same vehicle as a Geo Tracker, so I have all the parts I need. May have to fabricate some mounts, but the rest should be fairly straight forward."

How do I convert a 2wd Dodge transmissio to a 4wd

The transmission has nothing to do with the truck being 2 or 4 wheel drive. The output of the trans connects to a transfer case. The T C supplies the front & the rear wheels with power. All you would need to do is a normal transmission swap. A 2 wheel drive truck would just have a drive shaft vs a TC.

I have a 1500, 5.7, 2 wheel drive with a 4 speed transmission with O/D . How many times should it shift including the O/D and what does the lock in torque converter have to do with it?

It should shift 4 times. 1-2, 2-3, 3-4 Then you will feel the torque converter clutch lock up which feels like a shift. The torque converter locks to increase gas mileage.

I have a 1999 Isuzu Trooper and when I hit the auto 4 wheel drive button it blinks and doesn't engage. The 4 wheel drive works fine. Any ideas what the problem maybe??

While driving, apply the foot brake and press the 4x4 button. If it engages, it can be bad auto locking hubs, or a bad torque converter. This is the same problem I am having right now but I was able to the get the 4x4 to work by doing what I described above. I am going to take off the wheels and check the hubs and eventually work toward the torque converter. I'll keep you updated.

Can i fit 4 wheel drive in my car

Unless you have a nice fat stack of cash and a chassis shop laying around or you can get your car on **** my ride, it would be nest to impossibe to convert you Zuki into a 4WD car. I would go with stock shocks, your car is pre-tuned to drive best with them installed and they are tuned to drive best with your car installed on them! Good luck!

Hi dear

Converting to a 4 wheel drive  will take several thousands of dollars in parts and several more thousands in labor.  It requires a front axle and driveshaft transfer case, transmission, new electonics in some cases, drilling of holes thru the floor.  Converting a 2wd to a 4 wd is almost unheard of because of the cost involved.  If you really need a 4 wd, sell the Jeep and get a 4wd Jeep. Sorry if this is bad news

Well where the real drive shaft meets the front axel which I think is the 4 wheel drive chain case. It was making a noise, that sounded like I was dragging a can behind the truck. It started to get worse...

The transfer case is what you are describing,,and to convert it to 2wd is possible, but very expensive as you would have to change the transmission itself to a 2wd,and then obtain a rear 2wd driveshaft. It would be more cost effective to rebuild,or replace with a good used, transfer case.
