Alternator is not performing. there are 6 diodes in the alternator. One or more of them are defective.

Air Suspension Description and Operation
Air Suspension
The primary mission of the Air Suspension System is the following for the rear suspension under loaded and unloaded conditions:
• Keep the vehicle visually level
• Provide optimal headlight aiming
• Maintain optimal ride height
The Air Suspension System consists of the following items:
• Air suspension compressor assembly
• Air suspension sensors
• Rear air springs
Important: The Air Suspension System must have a voltage supply of at least 12.6V to operate properly.
The Air Suspension System will maintain the rear D height within 4 mm (0.15 in) in all loading conditions and the leveling function will deactivate if the vehicle is overloaded. The side to side D height variation is maintained within 8 mm (0.31 in). After ignition is turned off, the air suspension control module (ASCM) will remain active for between 30 minutes and 2 1/2 hours. The system will exhaust pressure within 30 minutes after the ignition is turned off to lower the vehicle after unloading. In a temperature-controlled environment, the leakage of the complete load leveling system will not result in more than 1.4 mm (0.05 in) drop of rear suspension height at GVWR during a 24 hour period. If the outdoor temperature drops from +20°C (+68°F) to -5°C (+23°F), the rear D height may drop as much as 25 mm (1 in). However, the Air Suspension System should return to the specified D height when the ignition is again cycled to ON.

What is the problem ?

Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Displaying
The Air Suspension system has an internal clock to prevent overheating if the compressor assembly is running for a prolonged period of time. If the system overheats, all leveling function stops until the system cools down. During this time, the indicator LED on the air inflator switch will be quickly flashing at a constant rate.
The other three diagnostic trouble codes are displayed with a blink code on the inflator switch LED. The Air Suspension Compressor Assembly shall begin to indicate the code when the condition to cause the code becomes current.
The number of the fault code shall be represented by the number of flashing pulses on the inflator switch LED. The flashing pulses shall have a repetition rate of 0.5 seconds and each code shall be separated by a 3.0 second delay. All codes shall be flashed in the order of occurrence of the fault. The blink code shall take priority over other processes that have access to the inflator switch LED. Refer to the following:

• DTC 002
• DTC 003

If it fails to turn over then check on battery condition and on battery connections (do full beam headlights stay consistently bright for ten minutes). If Ok then check on wiring to and from starter motor and on condition of starter motor brushes. If turning over can you hear the fuel pump running; whirring sound when key at position prior to 'start'. If no fuel pump check on fuse for pump relay, check on relay, check on voltage at pump. If pump supplied with voltage but not running give it knock to see if you can get some kind of response from it. If completely dead replace pump and filter assembly.

Voltage drop. When in parked I rev up the engine, when it comes down, the voltage drops from 14 to 10, for about 5 secs. I think the truck will cut off but it immediately comes back up to 14.


If the alternator is weak, and you have accessories like the headlights or blower motor running, and the RPM drops below 600, the voltage could be below 12. It would depend on the load, RPM, and several other factors.

What causes a dim headlight on a 2001 cavalier


Could be the lenses that become turnished over time, it could be the bulbs that may need replacements. Electrically could be corrosion in the connections which would affect voltage supply. To find out if you have a voltage drop you are going to need a meter and measure voltage from the battery positive to the positive terminal on the headlight while the lights are on if you have excessive voltage drop you may have to repair wires or connectors.

2001 Ford F10 truck - battery light flashes, stays on then goes off - intermittant


May be the alternator going out. I say alternator because it could just be a regulator but the regulator is built into alternator now days.
If you have a digital multi meter you can check the voltage.
With the engine running you should get around 14.4 DC volts at the battery. Turn on the headlight, radio, a/c and it should drop .20 or so.
You should also check the condition of your battery. A battery in poor condition is ******* the alternator and starter. A fully charged battery is at least 12.6 volts. A battery at 12.2 is a 50% state of charge and 12.0 is 25%.
But if your charging system is not working properly then it may not have a full state of charge.
A load tester also helps to check a battery.
You can also always check any connections between the battery and alternator.

Air conditioner full of coolant but blowing warm air.


A few basic principles for air conditioner troubleshooting. For both central home air conditioner or window air conditioner, the first thing to check is whether the unit is getting proper power. If the unit uses 220 volt power be sure that the proper voltage is getting to the unit. Same for 110 volt units. A voltage meter can be used to assure that the voltage is correct.

For window air conditioning units the voltage can also be checked before and after the thermostat. If voltage is being supplied to the thermostat but not from it then the thermostat probably needs replaced. This is a fairly common problem. Another place to check is the fan motor voltage. The fan on window air conditioners runs both the indoor blower and the condenser fan. If that motor fails than the compressor may run for a short time, but will overheat and shut off. Continued operation like this will result in compressor failure. This motor can be economically replaced for larger window air conditioners, but for smaller ones the cost of replacement will be more than a new unit.

Central air conditioners for the home are more complex and there are more things that can go wrong. As with the window air conditioner the thermostat can also be a problem. The central air conditioner thermostat will only have 24 volts going to it. So don't look for high voltage there. Some units the voltage will be coming from the outdoor unit and others the voltage will be supplied by the indoor air handler or furnace. Most home central air conditioning will be supplied by the indoor air handler or the furnace. If the air conditioner is for cooling only the unit will usually have only two wires going to the condenser unit. Make sure that you have 24 volts across those wires.

The next thing to check will be the indoor blower. If your thermostat is calling for cooling then the indoor blower should be running. If there is no air moving across the indoor cooling coil then you will soon have a big block of ice formed on the coil. This can happen for a few reasons. The indoor blower is not working, the air flow is restricted and not allowing air to move across the coil. A clogged air filter would also do this. Or the outdoor condenser unit has lost the charge of refrigerant.

Finally and worst of all is when you have a complete compressor failure. Often when this happens the compressor will "lock up" or not be able to turn when power is supplied to it. Overheating or lack of lubrication are usually the main causes of compressor failure. Overheating can be caused by the outdoor coil around the compressor getting clogged with dirt, leaves, or grass. Loss of the refrigerant charge will also cause the compressor to overheat. It is the cool return gas coming back to the compressor that helps to keep it from overheating.

As you can see there are many things that can go wrong with an air conditioner and I have not come close to exhausting the possibilities here. I have just touched on the most common problems in a very basic way.
There are some basic trouble shooting things that can be done very easily. Most problems are above out of the range of comfort for many homeowners and professional help should be consulted before any attempt is made at repairs. Remember also, that the release of refrigerant gases into the atmosphere is a federal offense in the
US. Proper care must always be taken to minimize the release of any gases. A license is also required to handle refrigerants. Make sure that the professional you call has the proper certifications to handle refrigerants properly.

My air condition works only when I?m driving, so when I?m idle you can hear it shut off and on as it starts to blow hot air, then the car starts to over heat.


get you A/C checked! It sounds like you may need to refill your unit with freon.also your A/C cooling fan could not be working properly.When you use your A/C the fans work differently than when you dont use the A/C.Also check your coolant level when your engine is cold,never HOT!

06 honda civic are headlights always dim?


Well, if you truly believe they are dim, voltage drop test on the power side of the headlight circuit, and then on the ground side. Separately. If there is excessive voltage drop in the wiring, that would cause dim headlights.

If the headlights and dash are dim when u turn multiple electrical items on, then it is a bad Electrical Load Detector(ELD)
