Question about Mitsubishi Cars & Trucks

Thanks guys my name is robert i have the 3000 gt tranny problem we are taking about here, the car is in my garage . what do you thin i should do first the fluid and filter have already been changed , what is a VSS and is it relative here or just change out the vacuum mod then the tq converter vss ? It zings out of gearin 1st and 2nd and wont go in rev. have the codes , no doing motor work also lol.

What gearoil did you use? These trannys have a copper sunchro mesh that most gearoil will eat up. ONLY USE - Red Line synthetic gear oil, a 50/50 mix of MTL and MT-90. Anything else will kill the copper sunchro. Search google and you'll see it is very common - you never said if it was manual or auto - this is for manual only.

SOURCE: transmission wont shift

check the kickdown/throttle valve cable. It may be bound up and stuck in the maximum position giving you extremely late shifts.

There ISN"T any modulators or vac lines on any Chrysler automatics

For 1997 Honda Accord 2.2L MFI 4cyl the Vehicle Speed Sensor - Location is located mounted on transmission.

OPERATION
The Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) is a magnetic pick-up sensor that sends a signal to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) and the speedometer. The sensor measures the rotation of the output shaft on the transaxle and sends an AC voltage signal to the PCM that determines the corresponding vehicle speed.



TESTING

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Disengage the wiring harness connector from the VSS.
  3. Using a Digital Volt-Ohmmeter (DVOM), measure the resistance (ohmmeter function) between the sensor terminals. If the resistance is 190-250 ohms, the sensor is okay.
REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Disconnect the three terminal connector from the vehicle speed sensor (VSS).
  3. Remove the fasteners that secure the VSS to the transaxle housing assembly.
  4. Remove the VSS.
To install:
  1. Install the VSS.
  2. Install the mounting bolts.
  3. Connect the three terminal connector to the sensor.
  4. Connect the negative battery cable.

After driving about 30 miles transmission jecks


First what type car/truck but sounds like gears going out in tranny forts check fluid level but if already jerking back and forth like it wanting go or little tight in gears then yeah it's telling u check fluid level then the tranny mount if those are good then it's going out 3000/5000 for new tranny hope it's just the fluid level but don't sound like that's it wish u the best and sorry to be bad news guy

You might not have one.I have an 04 Grand Am GT no dipstick sealed tranny??? So they say.You will probably have to have sealer/conditioner added at local garage.

have a feeling you need a different grade of tranny fluid or in our terms the transmission oil,is the wrong grade for the extreme temperatures you are encountering .Keep vehicle in a heated garage

Unhook the battery for about ten minutes ... that should reset the light... if it comes back on have the codes scanned (autozone is free).

It means the engine mounts and tranny mounts are shot replace them and it will stop! Also your idle might be too high due to a TPS sensor malfunction.

With a lift and tranny jack, it'll probably take a full 8hr day to do it, if you have never done one before.
