Yes but it will use a hell of a lot of fuel. and that can burn out the cat. so would way it up 100 200 for cat or 15-90 for a maf sensor.

A maf sensor can get damaged just from dust hitting it, weak or damaged air filter. even water can damage it. in side the case of the Maf there is a flow pin temp sensor. the temp sensor goes witch will make the ecu turn off the egr and engine knock sensors and cat sensor. inside should not be shiny the parts are coated with what looks like light brown paint that coat help the sensor. copy parts can look like some one has sprayed the hole thing in side. they don't last long copy parts.

I'm working on a 2000 suzuki esteem 4 door car it acts like its not getting enough fuel but has good fuel pressure

The air filter is okay?
Personally, I would look at the MAF sensor - try disconnecting the electrical connector and driving the car. A warning light will appear on your dashboard, yes .. but if the car behaves as it should that points towards a faulty maf sensor.

Also try removing and cleaning your EGR valve

Here's a couple of links that may help:

Troubles with MAF sensor

MAF Sensor Suzuki Esteem

problems with egr valve and catalytic converter for suzuki esteem 98

You can also try disconnecting the O2 sensor - see what the car runs like.

My advice would be to NOT follow all the advice you get. Try things yourself. Your car runs ... but somewhere in the MAF sensor- EGR valve - O2 sensor there's a glitch. Do the simple things first - disconnect the MAF, clean the EGR ..

1995 mitsubishi 3000 vr4 maf sensor is not picking up any signal from the maf sensor and is a lot black smog coming up from the exhaust

Test the MAF, check the harness wiring. The black exhaust is likely because the car is running rich, due to the fact it's running on pre-programmed fuel tables since there is no signal from the MAF. The pre-programmed fuel tables are a failsafe for this reason (MAF failure); they intentionally make the car run rich to protect the engine from detonation.

Fault p0100 on a ford fiesta zetec keeps coming up but don't stop the car running right

P0100 Mass or Volume Air Flow Circuit Malfunction. Basically this means that there is a problem with the Mass Air Flow (MAF) ..sensor. The MAF sensor may be dirty or bad. You can go to any auto parts store and buy a can of MAF sensor cleaner, Do not hit the fine wires with the straw from the can. The directions are on the can. Good-Day! Most MAF sensors are in the air tube, from air cleaner to the throttle body.

Why is my Grand Prix surging/stalling when ideling?

If you did not disconnect the battery and drain the voltage from the ECM, it could be using old settings when the problem existed.
When a problem occurs, the computer tries to correct it or find new settings to work around the problem. When you fix a problem you have to clear the codes and sometimes erase the memory from the computer to allow it to start back at the factory settings.
When you disconnect something and the check engine light comes on, the computer goes into limp mode and uses values for the sensors preset by the factory. The car will almost always run rich to ensure the driver can get back to a place for repairs.

Common fuel problems in a 2000 cadilac escalade

You problem reside in the cause of the fuel injector not getting the proper amount of fuel this can be caused by the MAP (manifold absolute pressure). To a MAF (mass airflow) you have both sensor, Disconnect the MAF does it stay running and also inspect the MAF air duct for cracks and false air leak,From the MAF to the throttle body. with the MAF disconnected and it stay running the MAF is the solution ,as for the MAP if it can stay running with the sensor disconnected the MAP is the solution

My 96 sunfire runs better with the maf sensor unhooked, will it hurt it any? idles at 800 with it hooked up and starts running rough. idles at 1100 with it unhooked and runs better

Try cleaning the MAF sensor. Get a can of MAF cleaner at a parts store (made by CRC, and others, too). I would not advise running it with the sensor unhooked-that may cause it to run in open loop constantly-resulting in poor gas mileage.

Hello, I had my car hooked up to a computer today and the codes P102, P0113, and P111 came up. The engine misses when driving down the road, and the car frequently dies when turning corners and idling. ...

P0113 Intake Air Temperature (IAT) Circuit High Input Indicates the sensor signal is greater than Self-Test maximum. The IAT sensor maximum is 4.6 volts or -50 C (-58 F). Possible causes are Open circuit in harness, Sensor signal short to power, Damaged Sensor, Improper harness connection, Damaged PCM

P0102 Mas Air Flow (MAF) Circuit Low Input, The MAF sensor circuit is monitored by the PCM for low air flow (or voltage) input through the comprehensive component monitor (CCM) If during key ON engine running the air flow (or voltage) changes below a minimum calibrated limit, the test fails. Possible causes are MAF sensor disconnected, MAF circuit open to PCM, VPWRopen to MAFsensor, PWR GND open to MAF sensor, MAF RTN cirbuit open to PCM, MAF circuit shorted to GND, Intake air leak (near MAF sensor), A closed throttle indication, Damaged MAF sensor, Damaged PCM.

I received a p0102 code, maf sensor,i replaced the maf,i erased the code and my 1997 jimmy 4.3 still runs rough, but when i disconnect the maf the truck runs fine and the code returns, when i reconnect the...

When you disconnect the maf the computer relies on other sensors to determine correct fuel/air mixture, this is why the truck runs smooth. In my experience when the maf is connected and it begins to run dough it's because the wiring to the sensor is damaged.

My 2000 ford focus has codes p0102 and p0113 whats that and what could it be?

P0102 - Mass Air Flow (MAF) Circuit Low Input
The MAF sensor circuit is monitored by the PCM for low air flow (or voltage) input through the comprehensive component monitor (CCM). If during key ON engine running the air flow (or voltage) changes below a minimum calibrated limit, the test fails. MAF sensor disconnected
MAF circuit open to PCM
VPWR open to MAF sensor
PWR GND open to MAF sensor
MAF RTN circuit open to PCM
MAF circuit shorted to GND
Intake air leak (near MAF sensor)
A closed throttle indication [throttle position (TP) sensor system]
Damaged MAF sensor
Damaged PCM
A MAF V PID (MAF PID) reading less than 0.23 volts (Refer to equivalent grams/second chart in GO to Pinpoint Test DC ) in continuous memory or key ON and engine running indicates a hard fault.
P0113 - Intake Air Temperature (IAT) Circuit High Input Indicates the sensor signal is greater than Self-Test maximum. The IAT sensor maximum is 4.6 volts or -50°C (-58°F). Open circuit in harness
Sensor signal short to power
Damaged sensor
Improper harness connection
Damaged PCM
IAT V PID reading greater than 4.6 volts with key ON and engine OFF or during any engine operating mode indicates a hard fault.
