The idle control valve is blocked it will need to be taken off and cleaned. wd40 is a good cleaner get the muck out of it and also clean the intake give it a goo wipe round and lift the round disc and clean the edges of it. put back together and should be fine then. should also think about changing the air filter at the same time.

SOURCE: engine cutting out when idling or slowing down

Here is the common cause of surges, stalls at stops, slow idle speed, erratic idle speed, rough idle and engine hesitation (and other problems), it is in most cases the idle speed control air-bypass valve and or throttle valve and upper intake, these area's get full of gunk and combustion residue over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls, low idle) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake

SOURCE: rough eratic idling

Check the idle air bypass valve see if dirty, cleanable unit. you check the working of valve by powering the unit with 12 volts. check map sensor too.

sounds like some electronic controls aren't working well with the engine (EG: TRIP control/ECU noticed this a lil in a dodge 1500 v6 mag auto idling to warm itself) but it appears as if the car maybe having issues with a idling control tapping the gas should tell the controller to stop but if not the idling controller needs replacement

Pulsing idle

Could be the Throttle Position Sensor. Just changed mine and it now idles properly. Mine would occasionally surge when at idle. Mine would also rev around 1500 to 1800 at startup and take a very long time coming down to normal idle. Changing the TPS has solved all my idle problems.

sounds like your idle is set too low , check your rpm at idle (warm) , and up your revs at idle.3_30_2012_5_08_46_pm.jpg
