How to disable "Service Engine Light" on 2004 BMW 325i

You can't. You have to read the engine fault code with an OBD2 reader, fix the fault and then reset it. They are not really "you should get this car serviced" indicators, they are an indication of a serious fault as detected by the engine management system.

Service engine soon light on

The brain is telling you it thinks the engine is due for a service. Mostly this can be ignored if the engine has been serviced but it is reckoned some management systems reduce the power output of the engine if the brain continues thinking it needs a service.

While some service indicators can be reset fairly easily, I seem to remember the BMW needs dedicated diagnostic equipment to reset it.

I have a Bmw 3 series e46 2001 I have a flat tyre. Engine management system on was not on before the flat tyre. Would the light come because of the flat tyre.

Not typically. If t he tire came apart and hit wiring or something related to the engine management system it is possible. Not likely but possible.

Reset the dashboard warning lights on a x5 e53 bmw 2006

A scanner can reset any light on the dash, if the problem has been fixed. A code reader will reset the engine light, again if the problem is fixed.

Reset management light

If you had all of this work done at the dealership they should have reset the light for you once the service was done. If not, they should reset it for you as a courtesy as you are their customer. It is possible that they did reset it and it is throwing new codes. I would return to the dealer and state your issue and ask them to check/reset the MIL.

To do this yourself, you can jumper pins, but then you don't know what the codes were. I would strongly suggest any owner of an older BMW to purchase a Peak scanner either online or from a BMW parts supply store like Bavarian Auto, Turners, etc. (or find a friend with one!) For a $100 or less you can read your codes and reset oil, airbag, and check engine lights.

Hope this helps,

Will diconnecting the negetive battery post to reset check engine light cause damage to my 2006 bmw 750li

No it wont cause any dammage, all that will happen is the system will reset, although not knowing the circumstances for the reason of the engine managment light being on may not possibly reset it and turn it off, unless what ever caused it has been repaired, most of the time, to reset the engine managment light you will have to get an OBD tool to do this.
hope this helps

Engine management light reset

The car is trying to tell you something - limp mode is there to protect the engine if a serious problem is detected. Stop driving it and get someone out to scan the codes and diagnose this.

I would like to reset the check engine light on my 2001 BMW 330ci. The car is running great, just changed the oil and filters and there are NO actual engine problems, this was the engine telling me to...

Hi as the car is BMW the only way you can reset it yourself is to buy an electronic tool that will plug into your cars engine management system, that will allow you to reset this light!!
You can buy this tool from 80-100 Pounds.

Other cars such as ford and peugeot etc can reset there light by using buttons on the dash board, but BMW, Mercs and Lexus don't have this function.
Your local garage will also be able to turn the light off, but will charge a small FEE!! So you will need to decide weather it is financially worth buying the tool to do it yourself or just pay the garage.

If you are planning on keeping the car for several more years if would be worth buying one as it will also provide you with the error codes, should your car have a problem and you will also be able to use it on other cars in the future if you do part with your BMW.

They are worth having if you work on cars yourself, as it will provide you with all error codes.

Let me know how you get on!! And if you need any further assistance. Thanx Paul
