Question about Chevrolet Camaro
I took my car to a mechanic to do basic tune-up on the car and I also needed new tranny/engine mounts. When I got the car back, the gear shifting was completely opposite of what it should have been- 1st gear was in 2nd gears spot (and vice versa) and 3rd gear was in 4th gears spot (and vice versa). If I shifted the car in that way, it drove perfectly. And now the mechanic can't figure out what went wrong- any suggestions?
HE JUST DIDNT AJUST THE SHIFTER LINKAGE RIGHT . OR THE GEAR SELECT TAB MAY NEED AJUSTED BUT ITS PROBABLY THE LINKAGE .

I'm assuming its a 4 speed shifter on the floor. More than likely he screwed up the linkage.
Bring it back and tell him to call you when he:
a. Fixes it himself
b. Hires someone to fix it for him.
This isn't not your problem. You didn't screw it up and I'm assuming you paid him $$ to do the work for you.
If he can't fix it in a timely manner. About twice as long as he took to do the work in the first place, Then ask him for the telephone number for his insurance agent and tell them you want to file a claim for damages to your vehicle caused by the mechanic while he was working on your car

you say the fluid looks good... that's great.
now next time your out drive for about ten good minuetes long enough for the transmission to get nice and warm and then pull over to nice level ground and with the vehicle in park check the fluid again. it's kind of hard to read because it always has a lot of bubbles on it and stuff. but it may be low on fluid.. good-luck ray

Sounds like you need a solenoid pack to start, and possibly a service. If the tranny is not slipping, the solenoid pack is stuck and not tell it to shift up. Could possibly be a TCM, but not as likely.

if its a manual then you have moved the splined shaft under the car ,just re adjust it ,slacken pinch bolt and look for original marks in the grime to re set it

I have a s40 1.9d / 2000 plate,
In the last month or so the car loses revs when changing up to 3rd and 4th gear, I can only get 50 mph max in 3rd gear 80mp in 4th.
The car has just clocked 185,000 miles
Its a great car but a pai at the moment, I've had a service including fuel fillter change added fuel cleaners to the deilsel all to no avail
