Old post,
short answer (the TCC loc. ) point to bell housing, bingo.
long answer,
see granny post here. with 3 large photos

the TCC purpose is to lock the fluid clutch so when cruising fast
the cars MPG gets way better (efficiency rises)
It over rides the TC, (ending slip) and saves fuel.
see new cars /with 9 speeds, same deal, less TC slip
in all gears. and more MPG,
the system iS
Tranny brain >relay>solenoid, > hydra. locker slave.
some times a delay device or pressure switch is in the path.

This won't be a fun job. Notice this guy stated he took him about 5 hours and I think he is pretty knowledgeable. So if you are a novice auto mechanic you might want to hire this done for you.

SOURCE: jeep codes location of unit

Got me a complete manual for 199 jeep factory model and found location of each individual unit in question. Manual gives u possible solution to each code and repair and or replace. As a mechanic myself testing, trouble shooting and repair was not that difficult. Shift solenoid was very difficult to get to. Located under the head lamp passenger side.

I have been getting the code p0740 it says something about the torque converter clutch circuit. it doesn't seem to be going into over drive. dose anyone have any suggestions I can try.

On some cars, there is a TCC solenoid in the transmission which can be replaced by removing the bottom pan. In some cars this solenoid can't be accessed without major disassembly.

I got an engine light code po 742 what does that mean?

The code means that the Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) in your transmission is staying engaged after the computer has commanded it off. This could be caused by a sticking TCC Solenoid, By internal hydraulic pressure leakage, by a faulty Turbine Speed Sensor Circuit, or a faulty Powertrain Control Module.

If your engine has been stalling when you come to a stop - especially after getting off of the highway, then you probably have a sticking TCC Solenoid.

This really needs to be diagnosed properly to keep from spending a bunch of money on parts unneccessariily.

MY 2003 ACURA SE LIGHT CAME ON MY NEIGHBOR HAD A TESTER IT SHOWED P0740 TCC MALFUNCTION WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?

Torque Converter Clutch. It has to do with the transmission. It could be a small issue such as a trans. fluid and filter change. Or could be the solenoid failing. At worst, the torque converter is shot...transmission failure.

There might be a torque converter lock up sensor or solenoid. When it quits working you have a problem like your having. Some times the side pan can be removed and solenoid can be replaced. I have never replaced one in a saturn, but I have in a chevy cavalier. I'm not sure but I think that is a GM made transmission.

torque converter lock-up solenoids are at the top of the transmission on the OUTSIDE. The two came off with three bolts and the screens on mine were clogged with "lint".

this might be a dumb quest. have you checked the trans fluid ? if so you might need a torque converter in a automatic . or clutch in manual trans.
