The timing chain is likely in the right position... you can advance or retard you timing by loosening a bolt at the distributor cap and turning it until you have better power

If you could post more Information about the vehicle it would help. Is it a 4 cylinder or V6, and have you change plug wires or done any other repairs. Unplug the mass air flow sensor at idle and if the engine quits then the problem is not with that sensor, it is else where. It could have a bad timing chain and jumped time or if the timing belt on a 4 cylinder is worn out it could also jump time and cause a lot of damage. I don't know what else to tell you. I hope this was helpful.

I need to know how do u set the timing on a ford 5.0 with wireless distributor

The timing is factory set- (nonadjustable). You can check it the same way you would check any other engine. When the engine RPM is increased the timing marks should appear to move (jump) ahead- if they don't you have a bad ig module or PCM.

Our 2004 Ford Expedition will not start after 10 to 12 hours of idle time. Truck is in garage overnight. I cannot even use a jump box in the am to jump it off. I have to jump off our other vehicle using...

If you disconnect the battery over night and the vehicle starts after reconnecting ti in the AM then you have a short some where. If this works let me know and I can try and help you further through a process of elimination. Thanks.

1996 Ford Windstar GL jumped time

The camshaft is driven by the crankshaft by either a belt or chain. These have to stay in line or in (time ) with each other, If not the engine may not run correctly, if at all or worse can break stuff. In case you dont know, the crankshaft pushes the pistons up and down and the camshaft opens the valves so gas can go in and exhaust out. ( very simplified )

I need the engine timing and the crank pulley torque specs.

Once you align the top and bottom timing marks, and install the belt and tight the belt tensioner, you are done, there is no distributor to adjust ignition timing, it is computer controlled. The torque for the crankshaft bolt is 80 foot pounds. Hope this helps, let me know.

Where can i find the timing marks on 1998 ford escort zx2 ?

Hello pamgolmon: My name is Roger and i will answer your question. The 2-0 dual cam engine is a interference engine. This means if the engine jumps time at the timing belt. It will bend the valves. As for the timing marks on the camshafts. Their are no marks to be located. To set the timing marks on this engine requires special tools. This makes it expensive for not only the do it yourself mechanic but also the repair shops also. If the valves were bent you must pull the head for the repairs also.
I know this is not the answer you were hoping for but it is the only answer to give. Please rate the quality of the answer as this way we know your answer was correct. Please just ask if you need further help. Thank You for using Fix Ya. Roger

2004 ford ranger with a 3.0 v-6 jumped time

jumping a car will not affect timing. if your timing is off then you have another problem. but if you want to reset timing anyway the easiest way is to disconnect the battery for about 5 mins.
