On all Trooper II models the fuel pump is located in the fuel tank, fuel tank must be removed to access.

Drop the tin sump and check the pick up pipe as the pipe can crack and the seal goes hard so lets some air air in for a bit .

SOURCE: Hello I have a 1990 Isuzu Trooper.

these gauges have a voltage stabiliser I have repaired several on various makes, on this age you can have either a electro mechanical one on the rear of the cluster, it is a small oblong aluminum tub or a zener diode soldered to the circuit foil. If you can slide the cluster out and check the voltages on the foil, you should have found a steady 8 to 10 volts , but more likely you will get battery volts on one terminal and zero on the other. The dealer can supply the electro mech one, the zener diode is part of the cluster but will be a standard item you could get from somewhere like the old Radio Shack stores.

Drop the small tin sump down and look at the longer of the pick up pipes for a bad O seal or cracking .
This lets the pump pull in air so you dont get pressure - some times they even fall right off .

Gas guage and water temp gauge do not work clock works alt works oil works guages work just not gas and water temp ?????

On the rear of the instrument cluster there should be a resistor. This is how the fuel and temp guages are limited to a certain voltage decreasing the power to them so that they dont burn out. These (voltage limiters) resistors are available seperately from the dealership.

1989 Isuzu troop temp gauge goes straight to hot when key turned

there is a sending unit for the guage.but if it has been running a few minutes and gets hot you may need to check the thermostat or water pump.check the water pump by taking the radiator cap off.then start the vehicle, look into the radiator and see if any coolant is flowing or circulating.do the cheapest fix first

Instument Guages

well the issue is youe enitre gauge cluster i do understand that your speedometer is working but it is a cable speedometer not electronic like everything else in the gauge cluster so first i would recomend checking the voltage getting to your gauge cluster then just replace the guagecluster they are really cheap i a salvage and not hard to install at all but the cluster itself is not very comon to go out so make sure you check voltage to it first i wouldnt want you to go through buying and replaceing the cluster and that not fix it
