Has the key always worked ok in the past? Did it ever have any issues? Did you maybe bend the key?

SOURCE: 98 PLYMOUTH GRAND VOYAGER WONT START - BLOWS ENG FUSE - HELP

You have a shorted engine harness, this is not common but it does happen, heat and engine movement cause damage to the harness, this is most common on hi miler cars and vans, the only way to fix it is to start by looking anywhere the harness rubs, that is where the damage occurs.

SOURCE: My Plymouth Voyager 98 won't start but when the

Spray some wet grafite spray in the key slot, plenty of spray and work the key back and forth.Remove the battery cables and clean the battery terminals ,and the battery post real shiney, and put them back on.Make sure you have good battery voltage also.Don`t take it for granted that the battery is good, take it off and have it checked and or charged on a good slow(2 amp) charge. Now when you are sure the battery is good ,and the connections are good, then if the starter clicks, grab the shifter and pull it up and down without moving out of park, while you hold the starter engaged. If it starts then the neutal safty switch is bad.Now if it keeps on clicking(it will be the starter clicking)replace the starter. You can lightly tap the starter with ahammer while trying to start the van,and start it,but the starter will need to be replaced. If I can help you any further, let me know.>>>roniecon@gmail.com

1998 Plymouth grand voyager ignition won't turn

I have had this happen on my 98 Voyager. Just have a new key cut. This new key will sometimes cure the problem. The older keys get worn out and won't unlock the ignition. Try this before a much more expensive and time consuming change of the ignition.

Ignition key wont turn on 2000 plymouth voyager

I don't believe there is a way you can start it without turning the tumbler on the key switch. You also have a locking steering wheel which would also have to be disabled in order to drive it.

Ingnition tumbler broke cant start

If the key won't start it; it might not be the key ignition, but rather; the ignition that has a stem that goes from the key ignition down on the steering colunm. However, you can get key ignitions for them, or buy the whole steering colum then take the key ignition out of it. But, I would suggest more information is needed before I can conclude that it is just the key ignition. Hope this help~!

Takes several ''cranks'' to start van

your ignition switch might be worn or the ignition circuit might have build up resistance due to age. Some cars refuse to start when these things happen. The fix for this is a new electrical part of the ignition switch.

Good Luck

2000 plymouth voyager problem with ignition switch?

Your problem is caused by the little pins that the key moves to unlock the cylinder, they are sticking, go to a parts store and buy some graphite lock lubricant, if that does not help you will have to replace the lock cylinder before it jams and strands you somewhere.
