On car tests are hard, you need too meters.
off car at any autostore.
keep in mind many folks replace alternator 5 or 6 times
then find the wires bad the battery bad or the silly idiot lamp burned out.

is alternator spinng about 2 times the engine speed
no?, the tight the belt.
acordiing to this is not a ECU controls ALT.
yours is old style internal regulator.

now the easy test.
voltmeter across battery lugs (cleaned firs)
it reads 12.6v, (sunny day) means charged, less,is dischaged.
start engine voltage will be 13.4 to 15v. if not the ALT is dead.
or charge lamp burned out
or any of 4 connections and ground to ALT.

It's depends on which one your trying to check, most can be checked by unplugging harness connection ,then applying 12volts to the actuator. You'll probably hear a clicking or movement from that part

Where is the vaccum actuator for the Awd on a 99 bravada, other than under the batt.

You are a electrical actuator. There is no vacuum hose that control that area

The heater blows hot air when in cool position on a 98 olds bravada

AC not working?

on a hot day it will blow warm/hot air if the AC is turned off or not working

If its hot air and AC is working then i would start by checking the fuse or relay. if its not the fuse/relay then i would look into the heater box there is a door that blocks the hot air

My 98 olds bravada started blowing hot air even when the air and heat is turned off heat and air both dont work now ..... any solutions?

Either the entire control panel has gone out or the door actuator motor has stuck or stopped working - real pain to change - behind the glovebox - has screws on top of actuator that are almost impossible without a swivel 1/4 wrench

I was told that I would need a compressor, an actuator, and a control head to remedy the constant heat flow in my 98 Bravada... Can you tell me the part name and or where I can purchase the control head

I've been dealing with this for a couple of weeks now on my 98 blazer. I have access to schematics and a scan tool which makes it a little easier. My experience has been with the automatic climate control system. I don't know very much about the manual control. There are several possible problems. The most likely, is that one of the gears in the blend door actuator is cracked. Therefore, the blend door is stuck in one position. The actuator CAN be accessed through the glove box but it is tight. On the left hand side you will see a vacuum controlled lever. That is for the defrost (if you turn the truck on and switch the vent position switch back and forth you will see it move). The blend door actuator is behind that so its easier to remove that vacuum diaphragm to gain access. The overdrive problem mentioned earlier could also be a problem. To reset this, turn the truck off, remove the RDO fuse for 30 seconds, replace the fuse, then turn the key to the run position. This will start a calibration cycle to reteach the computer where the maximum and minimum rotation points are so that it doesn't overdrive. If, after doing this procedure, the hvac system cycles back and forth from heat to cool there is probably a code set in the Climate control module  and it may be time to get a dealer with a scan tool involved. On my truck and at least one other truck I have found out about, the control module is unable to sense the location of the actuator door (that is what causes it to "overdrive"). You can verify if your module is over driving by removing the blend door actuator but leaving the electrical connector on. Turn the truck on, cycle to heat. The visible gear should rotate one direction then stop. Cycle to cool. The gear should rotate the other way and then stop. If it doesn't stop there may be something wrong with the control module. Good luck and hope this helps. Keep me posted, be glad to help. You can buy the part at Auto Zone or you can go to the Salvage Yard and pick one up for $20.00 and you can get a better understanding to how to remove the old one from a salvage Bravada, blazer, or jimmy of the same years.

sound like a problem with your sending unit inside the gas tank with fuel pump or gauge in dash defective but with GM usually it is the sending unit
