Question about Jeep Liberty

P301, p0300, p0201

2006 Jeep Liberty codes that come up are p301, p0300, p0201. I have changed the spark plugs and fuel injector 1. The problems that I am having is the malfunction light is on and when I go to press on the gas to pick up speed the car jumps. When the car is idle is has a shake to it.

Your vehicles computer should have the malfunction codes stored in it.

Some mechanics will check the codes for you. And some auto parts stores offer the service as well.

Coil pack is bad. go to Auto Zone they can run scan and tell which one is bad

These codes will have to be cleared and the car driven through a drive cycle, maybe a couple of times, is the check engine light off? Also you should check your MAF sensor it may need to be cleaned or replaced and makes sure there are no holes in your intake tubing. Hope this helps, let me know.

What all this codes have in common is that every single one of them can be caused by a vacuum leak, so carefully check for cracked, loose or disconnected vacuum hoses, wiring to the coils, fuel pressure regulator, fuel injectors, specially on cylinder 2.

  • PO100 - Possible causes are wiring harness failure, air leak or defective hot film MAF sensor
  • PO130 - Vacuum leak
  • PO170 - PO173 - Possible causes are air ingress (leak), fuel injector failure, pressure regulator failure or mechanical wear of engine. Inspect and repair as necessary.
  • PO300 - possible causes are vacuum leak, wiring harness failure or ignition coil defective.
  • PO302 - If limit value for misfire "harmful to TWC" is exceeded, the MIL flashes immediately. If too many combustion misfires occur in one cylinder, the cylinder is switched off (cylinder selective fuel shut off). After the affected cylinders are shut off, the MIL changes from flashing to continuously lit until next time the engine is started. If combustion misfires are recognized, the fault code P0460 or P0462 is set if fuel tank level is too low (fuel reserve indicator light is on). Combustion misfires due to a shortage of fuel are recognized by means of this additional information.

NOTE:After cylinder cut-out system is turned off, the system monitors (through misfire detection) if all intake and exhaust valves are open again.
NOTE:Misfiring may be caused by many faults in the fuel injection system. Usually a misfiring fault is stored with faults pertaining to other components. An engine mechanical fault could also cause a misfire condition.

have a compression test done to check for valve or gasket problems
replace the HT leads with quality leads
run the fault codes
check fuel pressure to the injectors

2006 jeep liberty: rough idling, when I press on the gas the car jerks, check engine light is on, replaced the fuel injector #1, coil, and spark plugs. Took it to firestone and they said the fuel injector...


P0301 is a misfire in cylinder 1. This can be a lot of different things, but it seems you've already been throwing parts at it. I would recommend a compression test to test for a leaking gasket or a bad piston ring or valve.

What could this be?


CODE 301 IS #1 MISSFIRE 300 IS RANDOM MISS FIRE 201 IS INJECTOR FAULT . I WOULD START BY SWAPPING # 1 INJECTOR WITH SAY # 3 AND SEE IF THE MISSFIRE MOVES TO #3 IF SO REPLACE INJECTOR, IF NOT THERE COULD BE WIREING ISSUES

po300 is random miss fire doubtful two O2 sensors bad at one time most likely coolant temp sensor is bad causing engine to run rich this will cause O2 sensors to throw a code(thats what they are there for..exhaust gas temp. and raw fuel) running rich will also fowl spark plugs(=miss fire) P1128 ??

P0300 - Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected
Basically this means that the the car's computer has detected that not all of the engine's cylinders are firing properly.

A P0300 diagnostic code indicates a random or multiple misfire. If the last digit is a number other than zero, it corresponds to the cylinder number that is misfiring. A P0302 code, for example, would tell you cylinder number two is misfiring. Unfortunately, a P0300 doesn't tell you specifically which cylinder(s) is/are mis-firing, nor why.

Symptoms may include:
* the engine may be harder to start
* the engine may stumble / stumble, and/or hesitate
* other symptoms may also be present

Causes: A code P0300 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
* Faulty spark plugs or wires
* Faulty coil (pack)
* Faulty oxygen sensor(s)
* Faulty fuel injector(s)
* Burned exhaust valve
* Faulty catalytic converter(s)
* Stuck/blocked EGR valve / passages
* Faulty camshaft position sensor
* Defective computer

Possible Solutions
- If there are no symptoms, the simplest thing to do is to reset the code and see if it comes back.
- If there are symptoms such as the engine is stumbling or hesitating, check all wiring and connectors that lead to the cylinders (i.e. spark plugs). Depending on how long the ignition components have been in the car, it may be a good idea to replace them as part of your regular maintenance schedule. I would suggest spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap, and rotor (if applicable). Otherwise, check the coils (a.k.a. coil packs). In some cases, the catalytic converter has gone bad. If you smell rotten eggs in the exhaust, your cat converter needs to be replaced. I've also heard in other cases the problems were faulty fuel injectors.

Random misfires that jump around from one cylinder to another (read: P030x codes) also will set a P0300 code. The underlying cause is often a lean fuel condition, which may be due to a vacuum leak in the intake manifold or unmetered air getting past the airflow sensor, or an EGR valve that is stuck open.


P0301 Code - Cylinder #1 Misfire
P0302 Code - Cylinder #2 Misfire

A P0301 or P0302 code means that the the car's computer has detected that one of the engine's cylinders is not firing properly. In this case it's cylinder #1 or #2

Symptoms may include:
* the engine may be harder to start
* the engine may stumble / stumble, and/or hesitate
* other symptoms may also be present

Causes: A code P0301 or P0302 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:

* Faulty coil (pack)

Hello, help to fix code P0300 LIberty 2004


the code is for a misfire-can be anything-first reset could have been an isolated hiccup --if code happens again than --did u get a bad load of gas (water in it ) needs a tune up bad or going bad/spark plug-wires-coil-air filter-fuel problem fuel filter-fuel pump these are some of the problems that would give u a misfire code without others
