Question about Cars & Trucks
I have a 2002 dodge stratus, and have owned it for a short time, the car just stopped working. the check engine light stayed on , then the radio would cut off out of nowhere. my car eventually stopped locking, and then one day at a red light, the car just stopped. since it's been broken we've had further problems, such as the window going down and not coming up, the alarm coming on and we couldn't cut it off without disconnecting the battery. we've had a scanner hooked up to it and it says the car is fine. other people who have had similar problems say it's the security system that has locked the car down. can you help me??
Well if it has a secuirity system then sure.. does it?
did you read the operators guide yet (in the glove box) or free online?
it shows how to shut it down.
the first thing to do , is tell the helper, all things electical that are dead, dim, or malfunctioning
that first thing is , head lights. headlite by law must work with keys in the pocket.s
My guess lacking hands on work, is this is a ELECTRICAL power distrubution problem.
clean the battery terminals. remove neg . lug first and put back last is the rule.
btw any tech, or ASE mechanic can find the cause in about 5m.
he uses a voltemeter to see if power is good.
if not, we fix bad power first. 12vdc power.

This is a Direct Fault Caused by the Alarm System Starter Kill. Do you have an Alarm Override Switch???? You may need the Dealership to Reset the Alarm if not.

The Alarm on my Mercedes ML320 sounded every night, then it started doing it more often, Showed it to the dealer he says it's the 'Tow Sensor', that needs to be repaced. $700, down the drain. I have already started hating this car, it eats $500-600, every 6 months...

Same thing happened to me.
You will have to take it to the shop and have a dealer fix it.
It is what they call the "cluster" up by the firewall behind the engine that controls all the functions of the car.

Same problem with an '03 Golf--remote entry, power windows, and interior lights stopped working. This was easily fixed by replacing fuse #14, (10 amp), located in the driver's side fuse block.
