Old car.
is this factory air? id bet not but , is it?
most factory air this old is DOA> (hopeless cases)

most ECUs have an idle up pin, if you look at the schematic.
see it? and goes to A>C on , power line just after A/C on switch
the fan must be on , then switch closed and this cause A/C to idle
up. but in 89 some have other ways.

    Tried it did'nt work yes it is factory air and it's cold as just idles around 100 rpm to low dos'nt stall or shudder can't find any adjustment screws

    all cars with A/C have a fast idle feature, since your idle controls are busted, then the fast idle up command is ignored. see? fix the broke ISC system ( ISC = idle controls system) now 1 more question, is the post about a cold engine or hot engine? 2 different system control idle cold then hot..

    TownAce ,2n gen (not sold in USA,so my docs are worthless.. 1.8L gas and Diesel , many (wiki) sold in UK , black market and are hard to keep going due to no docs, due to blackmarket sell. the only manual is for the diesel and only in russian, (or Japanese)

    that's the real problem now back to the idle , question 1: what is your cold start RPM? 1500? and as it warms, doe the coolant hit 180f and hold, and rpm drop to about 800 and hold>? and if so , does thurning on all headlighs, heater fan, defrost, overload enigne and drop RPM, i bet it does. that means the ISC is not woroking (no controls) and if that dont work , nor can the A/C on idle up command work . that is how EFI works.

    The post is from auatralia the car imported super extra townace 2litre petrol 3y engine.cold idls start in park 4speed auto 1100 rpm cold idle start in drive is 900 rpm cold start in park with lights heater etc on is 900 rpm. When warm with all electrics on rpm is750 rpm does not drop or overload engine .the coolant hit its proper temperature and holds it when warm.

    1100 (good) the idle tests are hot engine, did it get to180f and HOLD? , and when it holds, that is the hot idle, my guess. What ia was doing is findng , hot idle speed. true hot engine , then while watching the tachometer, i throw on my loads, HD.Fan/etc. does RPM hold stady, not dropping in RPM as the loads are switch on? this shows me that the ISC (IAC elect) is working, that is the ECU can in fact regulate RPM @ hot idle. this must work prefect or ,adding A/C will fail. see? The AC has an input to the ECu that is called idle up. most cars idle up by 200rpm when the A/C is switched on,

    (examp) what motor? exactly then get a book and that car that uses that motor, then see the ECU schematic, then look at A?C and find THAT wire, the IDLE up wire. I can show you it on 1000 cars, but not this. (its printed in Japanese)

    the Hilux,(dead end) states: An engine which was not used in the US market and rarely in the Japanese domestic market pickups was the 3Y engine, which was used in place of the 22R engine in New Zealand models, followed more rarely by the 4Y 2.2 petrol in later versions. This was a decision by Toyota New Zealand to reduce parts required to be stocked by dealers as no other Toyotas sold in New Zealand at the time utilised the R series engines.

    working on any car with no FSM is near impossible. another tack? get the ECU number and work that end. get the pinout. of it and find the idle up pins now you would have the color wire, to trace. finding a bad idleup, you need the wire color. see why?

Your intake manifold has a leak. Check all the hose connections to see if you have a hose off.
Disconnect the EGR hose and temporarily plug. If it helps it is the EGR.
Take a spray bottle of water and spray around the intake manifold while the engine is running. When you find the leak it will draw in the water and stall the engine or at least affect idle.
Another part is the TPS, throttle position sensor which is on the drivers side and about the size of a cigarette lighter. It has 2 screws and 1 electric plug.
Have Autozone scan your truck for free.

Idle speed control may be bad. If replacing yourself you must give it a learning code. This is performed by after installing it you would run the engine at 1200 RPM's in gear with the parking brake on and your foot on the brake for 5 minutes. This way the computer will code the new Idle speed control you had installed

Dipstick, oil filler , filter etc are under the passengers front seat.
If you lift the carpet immediately in front of the seat, you will see a pair of clips holding down the seat, unlatch them and lift the seat ( in some models they hide a clip in the centre console).
The brake fluid is under a cover in the dash.

The 1.8 L (1,781 cc) 7K was first introduced in 1983. Cylinder bore was 80.5 mm (3.17 in) and stroke was 87.5 mm (3.44 in). Output was 80 hp (60 kW) at 4600 RPM and 103 lb·ft (139 N·m) at 2800 Was available with a 5 speed manual & 4 speed automatic transmission. Available in both fuel injected and carburetted configurations, the 7K produces much more power and torque compared to the other K engines however it is a lot less 'rev happy' due to having such a large stroke.
7K is available in KR42 Townace SBV vans (1997-2007) using a large G52 5 speed gearbox (Same bellhousing to box pattern as W55), or automatic.

be looking at emissions controls for leaking hoses open ports etc.. is timing good? out just a bit? look at the advance system under the rotor in the distributor..does this work freely? if not..spray with lubrican just enough to free it up..

maketl sure a/c compressor isnt locked up, all vacuum lines on on, clean throttle body with throttle body cleaner only.

Car overheating


If the water is pumping out of the overflow pipe either something is pressurizing the coolant system(cracked head or blown head gasket) or you have a very bad pressure cap. I have seen a bad pressure cap cause all kinds of problems.
