IF there is no air in the system and you know that by bleeding it all out the only other explanation of grinding going into first gear is that the clutch plate has been fitted the wrong way around and the raised hub is hitting on the flywheel bolts.. It will only go in one way. Remedy is to remove the box and pressure plate and reverse the clutch plate.

i will try it all air is out and someone just put clutch in i wil try it,, what r u refering to when using term "box",, and ty

  • Bill Boyd Oct 16, 2013

The box is the gear box and it has to be removed to get to the clutch. To check stop the engine , place in first gear and start the engine . If the clutch plate is has been installed incorrectly the car will move off as the car starts and you will have to switch off or knock it out of gear.

The slave cylinder is replaced simply by removing 2 14mm or 12m nuts on the bottom side of the trans. There is no need for transmission removal.

Remember to point out to the shops that there are two bleeding points for the clutch. On the slave cylinder itself and under the hood on the passenger side. Its right behind the windshield washer fluid fill spot. Sometimes the bleeder is covered with a black cover.

SOURCE: 2002 Hyundai Accent won't go into gear.

Probably the arm that holds the rtelease bearing in the bell housing has slipped out of place. Get someone to depress the clutch while you check the arm is not loose. If the cylinders are working then its most likely the arm is disconected. If you are lucky you may get it put back in place by looking through the inspection hole but most likely you will have to seperate the engine and gearbox. Sorry I havent better news for you.

SOURCE: 02 Cruiser. Replaced clutch master cylinder cause

is the clutch power assisted(vacuum)?if so couldvery well have some bearing on what is happening.I WILL TELL YOU A STOREY.A couple of months ago I changed the clutch master cyl. on my land cruiser and because I do all my own work still I didnot obey the golden rule..3days later i changed the slave cyl...l again did not obay the golden rule...... 2 days later iagain pulled the master cyl off cleaned it all out, but this time I OBEYED THE GOLDEN RULE,WHICH IS::always change the brake fluid when ever you change amaster cylinder either brake or clutch or when I was doing work for other people,if the brakes were worked on or the clutch you drained the sytem and relaced the fluid...ANY COMMERCIAL WORKSHOP THAT DOES NOT DO THIS IS GOING TO HAVE COMEBACKS ..it may only be 5or10% but for a $5container of fluid it isn` t worth the chance I was in that5 or 10 % are you? that is true, not more than 3 months ago give it some thought ....................

SOURCE: fitted new clutch and slave cylinder in 2.5 v6

crawl up under the dashboard & look where the clutch pedal rod goes through the firewall. look for traces of brake fluid at the rubber boot of the rod. a clutch master cylinder normally will leak to the inside of the vehicle & down the firewall when it fails. Replace as required & bleed clutch system using the bleeder valve that should be on the slave asy.

I just finished putting on a new gear box and clutch kit for and when i started it and put it on gear it was so low and soft and a loud noise after that... I just want to know why did it do that pls?

So you installed a new transmission and a whole new clutch kit? Did the kit include the pressure plate, clutch, throw out bearing and slave cylinder? Did you bleed the slave cylinder? The low and soft pedal is a clear sign that there is air in the hydraulic system. The loud noise after that tells me you're either grinding the gear trying to shift or there is a problem inside the transmission itself. If you installed everything correctly and torqued all the bolts correctly in the clutch assembly and transmission, then try bleeding the slave cylinder again, sometimes air gets trapped in the cylinder and it's hard to get out, If you let the clutch master cylinder run dry while you either had the clutch apart or while you were bleeding the clutch, then you have to start from scratch and re-bleed the whole system.

Miata clutch

With engine off, does the shifter get gears easily?
If so, it could be your hydraulic clutch. Check the fluid level on the clutch master cylinder's reservoir-on the firewall. If it is low, add brake fluid to it. If it was dry, you will probably have to bleed the hydraulic clutch down at the slave cylinder on the transmission bell housing.
When clutch pedal is pressed, the clutch master cylinder will force fluid down the line to the small slave cylinder. There, a small plunger is forced out (about an inch or less) from the slave cylinder, and pushes the clutch fork forward. The fork causes the clutch inside the bell housing to operate. Look for this movement of the slave cylinder pushing the clutch fork while someone presses down or pumps the clutch pedal. With the engine off, of course.

The clutch was having a hard time going into gear. All of a sudden there was a high pitched squeal/scream coming from the transmission area.

that sounds like a throw out bearing failure-is there any adjustment at the slave cylinder-it may be holding the bearing against the clutch and causing the noise-this thread may help-http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f9/how-change-bleed-clutch-slave-cylinder-511531/- cheers Denny

Why would there be a rattle noise when in neutral and grind going into first gear?

Your slave cylinder in your ****** or your master cylinder could be bad. Both are integral parts of your transmission. The master cylinder is a hydralic hose that goes from your clutch peddle down into the bell housing and connects to the slave cylinder which disengages or engages your clutch. I had to replace both of mine because the mount for the slave cylinder broke and my master cylinder was bad. Them master cylinder is located directly behind the firewall in the engine compartment and connects to your clutch via a rod that connects to the top of your clutch peddle. check the fluid level in the master cylinder first and formost to see if you are just simply low on fluid if you are then DOT 3 brake fluid works perfectly fine for it.

I have a 1997 Pontiac Sunfire that has problems shifting into gear. (manual trany). Have to force into 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th and especially in reverse. Will grind going into reverse. Have to turn off...

Sounds like the clutch is going out. I would check the operation of the clutch slave cylinder. Also check the clutch master cylinder fluid level.

My car is stuck is stuck in idol it wont go in to gear it just grinds

I an assuming that since it grinds that this is a standard shift transmission. If so, your slave or master cylinder for your clutch has either failed or leaked out, or both. Try adding some brake fluid to your Clutch master cylinder and pump vigorously to purge any bubbles. If you can engage your transmission after this, you will need to have the hydraulic clutch system bled. Until that time you will need to pump several times between gear changes to use the vehicle.

Transmission grinds in first.Dexron IIE ,Is that critical

MORE INFORMATION:
Does it also grind in reverse while running?
Does it go in gear easily if the engine is not running?

NOTE:
Both gears are unsynchronized.

INFO:
The transmission needs to come to rest before it can go in gear.

FACT:
Your clutch is not disengaging

RECOMENDATION:
You have a failure in your Hydraulic clutch, Check the clutch master-cylinder and or find the leak, The higher probability is that the slave cylinder has failed.

Hope this tip helps you solve helps problem.
this problums needs to be solved sooner than later.
