As before get the compression checked, but also check your carpet, a wet carpet goes un noticed often, a bad heater core will leak down the inside of your firewall, and your carpet will absorb it. So feel the carpet as well.

you could have a cylinder head gasket leak, or a crack in the cylinder head or engine block. Water is drawn through the weak spot into a cylinder when the piston is on the down stroke and the vacuum in the cylinder is high. Once in the hot cylinder, the water flashes to steam and is expelled with the exhaust gases. So no leaks are evident. Have a mechanic perform a cylinder compression test. This will show if a cylinder is leaking. Another test is to check for exhaust gases in the water.

My Civic has 7 or 8 hoses to distribute coolant and some were in some pretty difficult to see spots. If your Honda is similar then there may be a hose leaking that you missed. There is also a bleeder valve to get the air out. If you didn't bleed it the last time you filled the radiator you will have the air pockets eventually get pushed to the radiator so it will LOOK like you are losing water. Also freeze plugs (assuming you have them) might have sprung a leak somewhere and they are always difficult to locate.

If it's the head gasket you can also use a vaccum tester and a cylinder leak down tester to further evaluate the condition of your head & valvetrain before tearing your engine apart. Good Luck

Water is leaking out of my 1991 honda accord and its not the radiator, so what is it?

I own a 92 Acura Integra and had the same issue. The hoses that run from the radiator to the engine needed replaced. They just wear out eventually. Mine had to be replaced at a shop because they had to be shaped to fit around all of the other components. Depending on how much water is leaking it could just be from the Air Conditioner. Obviously if your not using the AC then you can count that out. Hope this helped.

Changing valve cover gasket on 92 honda accord EX 4 cyl...

no and should be easy compared to what your used to.  Just put a small dap of silicone at the 4 points the cam bearing caps meet head(don't remove the caps) you will see what I mean when you get into the job. I also recommend distributor  o-ring they leak often and  are also fairly easy. just mark the dist. It will only go in 2 ways it has tabs to align it not gears.

yes you can add water, however you have to remember that the boiling point of water is 212 degrees where as coolant mixture of 50/50 has a boiling point of 240 you have to get the vehicle to the shop and quickly. if you go too long the engine heads will either warp or crack and so will the block as well so find a shop and fast... please rate this
