Does the bright light indicator on your dash come on?

  • kdm56 May 11, 2010

if by your bright lights do you mean headlights. on your light switch the first position turns on small lights at front and rear of car. next position with ignition on you should have very bright lights at front of car, when you move your dipper switch you should have another 2 bright lights at the front of the car and a blue light lit up on your dasboard. which are the lights that are not working, i will help more if i can

You most likely need to replace the turn signal switch, also known as the headlight module. you have to remove the cover from around the steering column. there are usually phillips screws going through the bottom of the cover that hold it in place.

the switch is located at the middle of the steering column. If Not under the cover like I said. I wasn't paying to the year of your car.

Headlights only work on bright

i had this happen with my dodge ram 1500. the guy i bought it from put 350 dollar moon lit lights in with leds and they looked impressive but the issue was that they didnt go bright and i could only see 40 feet in front of me and i was sure taping led flashlights would have done me more good that those stupid headlights. then i had the idea of if the brights work and the dims dont then that means no electricity is getting to the dims so i decided to bridge the power from the bright headlight to the dims and it made all four work. now they all work, and only on bright. so im figuring there is a issue with the wiring in the truck. so this is a temporary solution if you really need just plain old lights like i did because i live out in the country

Started truck pulled down the drive parked it turned off engine. loaded tools into trailor and car then went to start and nothing lights works no clicking noise.

sounds like your starter has gone out on you. if you have nice bright lights and know its not a battery problem. try tapping on your starter with a big hammer[no kidding] while somebody trys to start it. [ this goes without saying but make sure its in park] starter should be on passenger side and just by giving it a few taps with something will sometimes work to get the truck started so you can move it to a place where you can work on it further.. but if there is no clicking sound when you try to start it and you have a good battery it sounds like a starter. if you dont know what the starter looks like its on the bottom passanger side located off the side of the motor about the size of a softball around and maby 6 too 8 inches long. this dont always work but sometimes you get lucky i have had to do this several times myself. and it will work a few times, but know that you need to get a starter soon who wants to crawel under a truck just to get it going [not me]..also youtube has a wide variety of videos that may help you.. i hope this helps you..

I have a 2004 ford taurus and my turnsignals dont work anymore. In the morning they will work a couple times but after that they dont work i checked all the fuses but someone told me i may need to change...

the multifunction switch is a common problem on fords. the switch controls the wipers, turn signals, high beams and hazards, and sometimes only 1 part of it will fail. in your case it sounds like 2 parts fail at the same time.

I just replaced the wiring harness on a 1988 mazda rx7 and now the car will not star. the steering wheel lock had to be broken on the car to move it so the anti theft system that came with the car thinks...

you need the original black plastic key that came with the car lock all doors and make sure anything that opens is closed. then unlock the car on the driver door with the key. If you lost the key look in the owners manual hopefully the code on the key is written in there and then go get a new key made at a mazda dealer. Hopefully this helps. Maybe you can help me i need to replace my wiring harness and i dont know where the clear 4 prong plug is located under the dash on the main harness. i already unplugged the two orange ones and the two from the computer i just cant find the lear 4 prong one.

All of a sudden cranking noise started and my camr 1998 stopped

if the engine light stays on you'll need to have a dianostic test done. it will pinpoint the problem. call shops in your area to see who has the cheapest price. it could just be a bad battery, i feel your pain. good luck

sounds like an electrical short or malfunction. this is a dealer only issue that VW knows best to solve. Check with your dealer to see if any recalls are on your vehicle and take it to them for repairs. Most local shops don't know enough about VW's to work on them accurately. I know this from experience of owning one myself years ago. Trust NO ONE BUT THE DEALER WITH YOUR VW.
