Voltage regulator is internal to the Alternator. You have to replace the Alternator.

Do wires go from alt to reg

Can't remember if 1984 had a separate regulator. If the engine has a computer that's where the regulator willl be. If you do have a separate regulator it will have 2 wires. The green wire goes to the alternator field circuit. The other field circuit wire gets ignition on voltage as does the center terminal on the regulator, either a red or blue wire, probably blue.

Replaced alternator in 1993 dodge dynasty and the volts are too low

Did you have the alternator checked before you installed it? the Chryslers have the voltage regulator built into the computer.

F250 intermitant alternator. 14.62 volts when good, then it just stops producing voltage? has anyone heard of a possible corroded chassis ground problem

NO, BUT UR PROBLEM IS MOST LIKELY A BAD VOLTAGE REGULATOR INSIDE THE ALT., IF EQUIPPED WITH AN INTEGRAL VOLTAGE REG, RAGARDLESS, THE VOLTAGE REGULATOR IS PROBABLY AT FAULT. CHECK THE BAT. CONNECTION AT THE BACK OF THE ALT. AND BELT TENSION.

I need to know how to locate the external regulator for the alternator and where it is

The alternator is reglated by the Powertrain Control Module. (PCM) The PCM is mounted right next to the Power Distribution Center, which is mounted right next to the battery in the engine compartment.

What will cause a 1999 dodge diesel not to charge?? I have put new alt. on it and checked everything i know to check

How old are your batteries ? Diesels take a lot of juice to turn them over, I had a similar problem once, turned out to be the positive cable leading between the batteries.I would get a diagnostic on it to confirm your problem, could just be something simple.

I tested a used alternator at the parts store it was putting out good I put it on the car and it isnt doing anything any ideas what the problem could be

A few years back chrysler had the brilliant idea to put the voltage regulator in as part of the computer. Check and see if yours has that system. If you have everything connected properly you know where to look next!! (there is a way of wiring around it but the check engine light will stay on and may not pass inspection)

Charging problem

Could you clarify your engine size?

4 Cylinders K 2.5L TBI SOHC 6 Cylinders 3 3.0L FI (found in 36% of 1990 Dodge Dynasty) 6 Cylinders R 3.3L FI (found in 64% of 1990 Dodge Dynasty)

If you have the 3.3L the voltage regulators are located in the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) or Single Board Engine Controller (SBEC), depending on the model. If, after diagnosis, the regulator is deemed faulty, the PCM/SBEC must be replaced with a new one.

Hope this helps for now
