Need Painting Advice for Compound Troubled Areas

Need recomendations/assistance regarding Body Work/Painting. Hello Fellow FixYa's! I have an novice level of experience patching and re-painting vehicles. I have not however experienced having to paint on parts directly against weather stripping or window molding. My issue is the Roof Pillars (C-Pillars?) on my 1996 Taurus have gone from rust to starting stages of rot, and I must address this. As you know, the metal of the pillars is shrouded by the Windshield seal. Sanding to bare metal, priming graciously, painting, sanding, painting, clearing, sanding, clearing.... ETC. Will this entire process be null due to the metal under the windshield seal needing to be addressed as well? That is to say, would painting this area only trap in the moisture of the rusting area under the windshield seal, causing increased corrosion? I realize that I may have these terms all mix-matched, and that this is complicated to understand since I have very little idea on what I am talking about. I am simply hoping for some pointers before I attempt to patch this up. It is my intention to use this method as an extension of 6 months to a 1 year before having to actually address the issue of professionally re-painting the car. Thanks for any and all suggestions and comments.

I don't think you can hurt it by sealing it from the outside. Your issue is the inside of the frame. The pillar is not airtight. Most of what you can use will smell for years if you spray WD 40 inside to displace moisture.
You might consider taking it to All-American car franchises or equivalent. They drill and plug body areas routinely to spray inside door panels, tailgates, etc. It would inhibite rust and unless you actually replace the metal when you want to paint the car, theres not much else you can hope to do. I live in the Michigan rustbelt area.

Our brand new car was found that scratch in painting how do with that ?

Go to your local auto parts store and get some polishing compound [Maguire's - 3m] and microfiber polishing rags and put a little on rag and rub in circular motion then a final polish................ Good rule of thumb.... if it catches your fingernail in depth its probably not coming out. If that's the case, seek auto detailer that can buff paint before body shop they can fine sand & buff for a fraction of money.

Spray painting motor vehicle.Clear coat is not glossy.Seems to be a lot duller than original paint work.

i do not what paint you used but there is still hope of saving and get mirror finish, you need to buffer it. it can be done by hand (usually uneven and labour intensive), or mechanically with the help of buffing pad.

buy trio or similar compound (i prefer farecla), have look at this site, it is my preferred:
http://www.farecla.com/automotive/compounding-systems/advanced-g3-liquid-compound

or make selection:
http://www.farecla.com/automotive/compounding-systems/advanced-g3-liquid-compound

it beats repainting... and i am sure that you can find some wholeseller/seller somewhere close to you of this product or some similar one.

if you find that little info helpful - do vote for it...

How do i change a cracked cylinder head in a 1994 honda civic ex coupe 1.6L engine?

Have a compression test done as it may be a head gasket and not cracked. Anyway the cheapest and most reliable procedure here is to have the job done professionally by a shop that specialises in Honda, Get a service exchange head is the answer and you should be back on the road in a day.

My tail lights in my 1999 Nissan altima won't work. I've checked the fuses. Any advice?

Hello and welcome to FixYa!

As a first course of action, I strongly suggest that you check the ground wires on the tail light for they can be faulty or cut. It's a black thin wire connected to the car's body.. You may start on the ground first.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

WHAT WOULD BE THE BEST TIRE BRAND FOR A 1995 TOYOTA CAMRY?

Hello. Welcome to FixYa. Please allow us to assist you.

On my Camry, I have Nexxens fitted.

Personally, I feel that these are fantastic tires. Not much road noise, they hold the highway pretty good, and they wear nicely.

Choosing Nexxan tires is my recomendation.

Thanks for using FixYa for assistance.

Dash lights show car with back lights on what does this mean

Hello. Welcome to FixYa. Please allow me to assist you.

That icon is telling you that one of your taillamp or your brake light bulbs is burnt out. All you need to do is turn on the parking lights, and check to see if they all work. Then, have someone press the brakes whilst you observe the operation of the brake lights; also note to see if the brake light in the back window is working. Once you replace the burnt out bulb, the icon will reset itself, and will stay out.

Thanks for choosing FixYa for assistance today. If my advice helps you out, a 4-thumb rating would be greatly appreciated.

Yes it can work provided the number is higher than the original one. If it is lower then the fuse is like to blow again.
