It's normal to engine to stall because alternator won't keep engine running. the field control of alternator goes with the batt.voltage then no batt.voltage no field control then no charge
look for good connection at alternator . look for current on one of 2 wire alternator ignition key on (is control by a fuse)

Sounds like the throttle position sensor to me. I have a 1991 caprice wagon and I have to replace this part every 6 months or so. It's a cheap easy to replace part, around $25, but I haven't been able to find one that will last like the OEM. It's just a variable resistor that tells the computer where you have the gas pedel. When it fails it tells the computer you're giving it gas when you're not.

SOURCE: I need the spark plug wiring diagram for a 1994

firing order of a small block chevy engine is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2, clockwise-#1 on the front driver side (1,3,5,7 on driver sied, 2,4,6,8 on passenger side)-#1 should be about the 7 o'clock position, but to be certain, rotate the crank (loclkwise) until the 0 degree mark on the balancer lines up with the scale-look at the installed rotor-it is either pointed at the 7 o'clock position or the o'clock position-with the plug in #1 removed, rotate it again to see if the cylinder pushes air (compression)-that is where #1 plug wire belongs. just plug them in in order (18436572)-you will still have to time it to start, they usually need to be set a few degrees before top dead center.

How are the wires supposed to go back on after you put the new starter in for a 1989 Chevy caprice classic 305 v8 8 cylinder E


Big wire from positive battery terminal goes on the larger post in ton the solonoid. The small wire or wires should match up to the smaller ones on the solonoid. Note u could possibly have to shim the starter if it sticks in because it is over shooting the gear a touch.

My fiance just changed the motor in his 89 chevy caprice to a 305. he put a new alternator in it and its not holding any charge. The care keeps shutting off when you drive or if we charge the battery hours...


Have you checked alternator output to see if it is getting from the alternator to the battery ? Could be a blown fuseable link or other wiring issue.

Is the 94 caprice classic engin a 350?


probably a 305, check the 8th digit on your VIN #, if it's an R, i think it's a 305, K would mean a 350...hope this helps
also, call chevorlet and they will tell you....also, it could be an LT1

I need the firing order and diagram of 1991 305. i changed cap but forgot to mark my wire location on the cap

Here ya go! #1 on the cap is the solid white dot...and then it goes clock-wise, 2, then 3 and so on.

u probably have a leaking fuel line!find wich line is leaking and replace it
