ok i have a 2000 grand am gt. i bought it from this guy everything was fine. then when we got it home the key wouldn't turn over. key wouldn't move at all.. fixed that problem with getting a new keys.. then the car ran fine... different people drove it for the day and it was fine... the next day my son went to start it and it would not turn over.. all lights and sounds came over care wouldn't start... so first thing we did was get a new battery... still wouldn't start.. so after going on line... looking into the security issues and being a little upset... my son force the car into park hard... and after that is started... but i am not sure if this will happen again. and yes during the day .. the car was taking out of park and put back serval times... don't know why this one time worked.

Neutral safety switch may be going bad or is out of adjustment. Switch is on the transmission under the shift linkage ear where shift cable attaches. Loosen it and put car in reverse (not running) turn switch so that reverse lights come on. semi-tighten switch and check that it starts in both park and neutral. If not you need to change the switch.

I have a 2000 Pontiac grand prix GT. Last night i shut off my car and the key would not come out of the ignition. Any thoughts on what I could do to get my key out of their.

Two inches below where you put the key in the ignition is a small hole. I use an allen wrench push it gently into the hole and the key will turn all the way back so you can get the key out. The dealer wanted 4hundred for a new ignition switch. allen wrench $1

2000 grand am overheats when the car is idle when

If you have A/C, turn it on. The fan(s) should come on immediately. If nothing happens, check that the fan(s) turn freely by hand and don't make any noise (from a bad bearing). Also check the fan relay and fuse. If the computer has a problem, it should show that it has one when a scanner is hooked up to it. The temperature sensor sends a signal to the computer and the computer tells the relay to turn on the fan(s).
