Sounds like you may have a blown head gasket. Have you gotten it diagnosed professionally?

SOURCE: 99 Jeep Grand Cherokee rear end humming

check the differential fluid in the rear differential. if the fluid is low, add fluid and see if the noise is still there, if the fluid level is ok see if the fluid appears metallic, if it is metallic looking or excessively thick it would be a good idea to have the bearings checked out. i am in the process of rebuilding a front differential on a 98 jeep grand cherokee for the same problem. the bearings inside the differential on the carrier and pinion gear were worn out causing a humming noise. if the wear is excessive the gears might also need to be replaced

SOURCE: Hesitates and cuts out when I accelerates, shakes and sputters!

Fuel filters are cheap and simple to change, so try that first. If that is not your problem it may be your catalytic converter. Before having that replaced, check your fuel return line. You should be able to blow thru the line with your mouth. If you can't, or it's really hard to do. . . then you have blockage. The blockage could be flooding your engine with fuel. Checking the fuel pressure with a gauge from an auto parts store may help you out. If the pressure is really high, then that may be your problem.

SOURCE: how do you change the tps on a 2000 jeep grand 4.7

The exact placement of the throttle position sensor generally is located on the side of the throttle body below the air intake tube on top of the engine.

To replace simply remove the air intake duct (usually one plastic screw), locate the sensor, disconnect wire plug in, remove the two sensor mounting screws (torx screw variety, size not remembered) and the sensor will come off. When replacing be sure to line up the throttle shaft with the proper groove inside the sensor...it should just slip in there pretty easily with a little bit of wiggling. Reinstall doing the reverse of the above.

Take's about 5 - 10 min to replace from start to finish and remember to clean the throttle body before starting this job to ensure no dirt will enter the engine. Good luck, Merry Xmass

Jeep Grand Cherokee P1490

okay you have a few problems here, lets start with the rear taillight problem, these jeeps are none for the sockets going bad, this would be simple to test with atest light,

next po1489 and 1490 have nothing to do with plugs or fuel filter, these codes are for the high and low speed fan control. the cooling fan on radiator. so i would first start with the testing of the cooling fan, if the engine is running hot due to fans not working then this would cause loss of power and may damage engine, this may be due to bad relays or fan, the code po 0122 is for the tps, this may be a bad tps or a wiring problem, there are to ways to do this one is to test and the other is to replace, if you have a tester and a meter you can test voltage ground and ref signal to tps or you can replace it and if the problem is still there (the code) then you will have to test.
the tps code may be the problem for lack of power.
as far as the cruise control, the cruise will not operate with a check engine light on, this is the future, computer will shut it down. the light problems, coming on at times will need some testing and is hard for me to help you with out more info,

good day

I have a 2004 Jeep grand cherokee straight six. I replaced the TPS sensor & IAC sensor. recently experienced high idle while in park, lack of power, and engine light came on with a code of P0121? ...

Depending on the system, P0121 is Throttle/pedal position sensor/switch A circuit range/ performance problem.

Did the TPS have slotted mounting holes? If so it may need to be adjusted.

1994 Jeep Grand cherokee rear lift gate

Well My 94 Jeep Grand Cherokee had the same problem and we had to just cut into the lift gate panel from the inside. It required cutting plastic but with a 94 looks arent everything and a working lift gate was worth it. But then we pealed back this black plastic mat under the panel and lifted up on the release bar(verticle bar that lifts the latch) and once we got it open we adjusted a little clamp that had slipped. Dont adjust it too much or when u lock it it wont lock! But sorry i dont know the name of the parts. But then u can screw the panel back in and it wont look to bad besides some cuts.

STARTS BUT WILL NOT STAY RUNNING

Check the throttle position sensor"tps",or the idle air control "iac" by chance did the battery go dead or was unhooked?
if so the ecu was reset and needs to relearn idle settings by just keeping it running for a few minutes
