SOURCE: eng. shakes spits/sputters oil in spark plugs

I just had this fixed on my suby today. The cause is that the spark plugs, go through the valve covers on the 2.5 l .When the o rings in the cover go, the result is oil in the spark plugs. The cost of the repair in Canada was about $500 including diagnostics as well as new plugs and wires About 1.5 hours labor and new seals and gaskets. It now runs like new. This is a common problem for this subaru engine as well as for the dodge neon.

Try changing the O2 sensor before the catalytic converter... mainly if you have seen a change in the gas mileage.

Hi, I believe there is a computer problem. If possible check codes for no start condition. if you know the no.#1 cylinder at TDC (Top Dead Center) on engine then you will know no#1 distributor is. Good luck.

Why does my 1995 Nissan maxima shake after I turn it on and when I drive it and It sounds like a rumbling motorcycle noise and it smells like gas and transmission keeps slipping when changing gears

Sounds like two separate problems. The tranny is an issue all on its own. If the engine is running rough and smells like gas, that would indicate its running rich and/or having a misfire on one or more cylinders. I would check with ignition system first, spark plug, wires, coil.

My 2001 pontiac montana minivan is misfiring on plug 6 and 3 and the van has strong gas smell and the van shakes real bad

you should conduct spark test in spark plug on high tension wire and compression test in the that plug 6&3 strong gas smell is the result of unburn fuel!!!!but the best solution to bring the car to the expert!!!!!!

I have a 1998 Chevy s10 blazer that is running ruff and shaking and bad smell from exhaust like sulfur. When I step on gas black smoke comes out of exhaust. There are no codes when hooked to code...

Check the spark, it should be blue, if it is yellow than you need to check your ignition system, coil, spark plugs, spark plug wires, dist cap, rotor ect.
Black coming out the exhaust is unburned fuel, when you have the spark plugs out do a compression test.

My 2001 Chevy Malibu is shaking, engine light on and I smell oil and rubber. It also is sluggish when I drive it.

My initial thought is that you have no spark in one cylinder. This could be from a bad spark plug or other ignition component failure. Have the spark plugs ever been changed? I would rule this out first, as they are inexpensive, and also under more stress than any other part of the ignition system. If the problem persists, then it's time to look at the spark plug wires or ignition coil.

Start the car and open the hood when it's dark. Do you see/hear sparks coming from the plug wires? Another inexpensive place to start looking.

When the vehicle is put in drive, motor shakes quit a bit! could it be 1. motor mount. 2. faulty spark plug coil???

Could be a bad plug, bad ignition coil, or a bad injector. I would also check for any vacuum leaks. Has the check engine light come on?

Astro van wont start

Did you check for spark? Is it getting gas at the fuel rail? If there is no spark then it could possibly be the crank position sensor, ignition module or coils but the coils do not all go bad at the same time.

Engine shakes when accelerates, lost power, Buick Park Avenue

Look for a bad coil pack. If you have the bank of three coils on the front passenger side of the motor, it is possible that one of them is going bad. This can be an intermittent problem since it failure is frequently heat related, and may not show up until the car is all heated up. It is simple enough to change one of these if you can figure out which one it is. There is a little device ( Spark detector) that can sense the sparks inside the wires. Get one and hold it close to each wire... away from the coils. The wire, that does not make the spark detector light coming from the bad coil. (It is also possible that a spark plug wire is bad instead.) Good luck. Chip
