Problem with Suzuki Cars & Trucks P1129 02 Honda civic, map reading too high
honda or suzuki?
Manifold pressure sensor.l
your idle is too low? what is it cold and hot.
you have a gross air leak (vacuum) to the intake plenum
the sensors , almost never fail. it also wastes fuel like this.

keep in mind, no car brain (ECU/PCM) knows what part is broken, it only can report the test that failed, only a service tech(mech) can do simple tests and find the answwer, btw the FSM covers this topic as does alldata.com under the p1129 section. RTM then ask quesitons or how to do tests with cheaper tools,

the map is absolute, so high can mean (no vacuum) or at full or near atmospheric pressure 14.7PSI, that be a huge air leak. or the MAP hose just fell off.

get the FSM on car, or alldata.com , it has the map tests and readings.

If manifold pressure is too high check egr valve operation--exhaust flow--valve clearances--blocked vacuum pipes--map sensor itself--possibly fouled with oil.

too high (absolute map) means, low vacuum, and closer to atmospheric, or, air leaks. if the cam timing is way off, the engine can not bump air, so map will be low. not blocked vacuum pipes, vacuum pipe leaks. the poster neves said how good the engine, runs. or if idle speed hot is normal, that be the first key symptomes, as all MAP based speed density engine, race like mad , with any air leaks. take it to a mech that can see and hear all that. on the forum we are blind..........

ever do the 60k mile service? including that old nasty slipped timing belt. the honda engine is interference motor, and will self destruct, at cam belt loss..

Use the internet to study Exhaust Gases related
to vehicle emissions

Then work on the causes of a particular gas that
is causing a high reading

You will need the report from the emissions center
with the gas readings, or your not working with much

You will need a pretty good understanding of motors
& several years experience to work on it's issues

94 civic a/c

Look at the LOW pressure gauge reading when the engine is OFF.

On an 80 degree day, the LOW gauge should read about 56 psi or higher if the A/C system contains an adequate charge of refrigerant.
On a 90 degree day, the LOW side reading should be about 70 psi or higher.
If the LOW gauge reading is less than this, the A/C system probably needs some additional refrigerant.

Honda civic 1992 twin carburators model.

I dont know where do you live, but honda civic 1992 don use carburator, they are fuel injection, you can have coolant temp sensor problem, or map sensor problem, run diagnose jumping the diagnose wires loated in the passenger side, kick panell close to the door wall, better get the repair book in the parts store to locate the conector ,and read how you can run the diagnosis
