I have a 95 suzuki swift and i am having problems with my clutch cable it will not keep any tension on it? the nut at the end of the clutch cable is as tight as it can be and the hook that connects to the clutch pedal keeps popping off... once its all hooked up it still has too much slack in it to put it in 1st gear? if any one can help me with this, that would be great!

How do i tighten my clutch cable on my 1992 isuzu pickup?

If this has the cable clutch then there should be an adjustment nut which is longer than the two nuts on each end. You can place a wrench on the smaller nut on one end and turn adjustment nut to change tension.

The clutch pedal on Suzuki vitara two litre V6 1998 goes to about inch of floor before activation. Clutch does not slip just too much pedal travel. Is it possible to adjust it? ...

prev.gif next.gif Clutch ADJUSTMENTS 1997-98 Models CLUTCH PEDAL HEIGHT The clutch pedal height should not be a periodic adjustment but may be checked after components of the mechanical clutch system have been replaced. The proper clutch pedal height should be 0.2 in. (5mm) above the brake pedal height If adjustment is necessary, loosen the locknut and turn the adjusting bolt until the appropriate height is reached. Once set, keep the bolt from turning and tighten the locknut to secure the adjustment. CLUTCH PEDAL FREE-PLAY The clutch pedal free-play should be checked from time-to-time in order to assure proper clutch operation. The proper clutch free-play should be 0.6-1.1 in. (15-25mm). Fig. 1: Pedal free-play is adjusted at the joint nut (2), while keeping the outer cable nuts (3) tightened around the center cable thread portion 7924hg30.gif
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section.
  2. If the free-play must be adjusted, turn the joint nut (2) located at the transmission end of the clutch cable in or out, as necessary to achieve the proper play.
  3. Once the correct pedal free-play is obtained, check the free-play on the release arm (c), it should be 0.02-0.06 in. (0.5-1.5mm).
1999-01 Models These vehicles are equipped with a hydraulic clutch system. No adjustment is necessary.

How to bleed slave cylinder for 1997 suzuki sidekick

Hi if the sidekick is the same as the uk vitara then they don't have a slave cylinder just a clutch cable with a nut near the end to adjust it. If its like a grand vitara they have got a slave cylinder, just crack the bleed nipple off put one end of a small pipe on the end of the nipple and drop the other end in a bottle that is roughly half full of break and clutch fluid, ask someone to pump the clutch pedal until no more air bubbles are coming out then tighten the bleed nipple back up. make sure to keep a check on brake fluid levels while doing this.

I have a 1992 5 speed suzuki swift where do I find the body ground cable that keeps blowing the ignition cable what does it look like and is a specific color

It sounds as though you may be missing an earth cable to the battery. There should be two cables running to the negative terminal of the battery - I think they're brown or black - and one should be bolted to the motor or gearbox, and the other to the body of the car. If the one to the motor is not connected, then when you crank the car, the circuit has to be completed by some other cable - probably in the wiring harness, or maybe by a speedo or clutch cable.

My daughters 2003 Suzuki Swift is not shifting right when it is really cold outside. When it is warm it is not too bad. It is not engaging all the way. It is cold here now so it is doing it all the time.

I recently had the same problem with my 2000 Swift. After having the transmission rebuilt the mechanic said he had adjusted the clutch cable and instaled a different spring on the clutch to compensate for the cold making parts stiff. I haven't noticed the same problem since.

2000 Suzuki Swift Clutch Question

A clutch cable doesn't take much to install. Who told you $600.00?? You don't have to take the trans. loose to do this. All you do is unhook the cable from pedal and unhook if from the trans. This job should only take you an hour if you've never done it before. How long has the clutch been in your car?
