Question about Ford Taurus

2002 Taurus A?c relay not energizing. I replaced the relay, checked hot side of circuit and it is OK,. I am down to the evaporator temp sensor. What is the Ford part number? Also what is the resistance at room temperature? Thanks.

Did you check the ac pressure? if too low or too high the unit will not come in. Be sure and check on the low side which should be around 35-50 psi. There is a high/low switch in the line which could also be malfunctioning.

Hello this is a feature to stop the engine and exhaust system from filling up with gas when spark is lost! years ago fuel would be delivered as usual and you Eng and converter would be full of gas real hazard back then!!!!now they built into computer when spark fails fuel automatically shuts off safety feature??? or not? so i would start to test coil this is a good place to start and if you have engine light on plug in OBD 2 scan tool to retreve the fault hope this helps you out and if you do not have a proper spark tester tool i would invest in one most auto parts stores usually carry them!!! $15-$30 dollars usually.John

Aside from the fuses, your drive side power door lock may be failing to work because of a bad door-lock relay system, or, alternatively, the locking switch/button, itself, is not malfunctioning and in need of replacement.

Make sure you replaced the right one there are two sensor's for the coolant, one takes coolant temp and the other one runs the fans for the radiator. Both are located on drivers side of the block. 2 wire leads on each how ever both are different in sending readings to the computer.Both look just alike also. Just make sure you replaced the right one. Or replace both.

Here are the locations of the fuses and relays. F-31 through f-42 probably are the one you want to look at. These are probably all tied together from looking at your codes. Your mass air flow sensor is also giving you an alarm. If your not finding any blown fuses or bad relays it might very well be the PCM (Power train control module) itself that is going bad. A dealer will have to check that out for you.

radiator fan switch ???? has relays ,high speed cooling fan relay an engine cooling fan relay an a cooling fan resistor . A coolant temp. sensor . The temp sensor is a input to the PCM - engine computer ,when temp gets to hot the PCM energizes the relays . There is no radiator fan switch . My fan on my 2001 mercury cougar won't come on at all. How can i test it to see if they are working or if i have a bad relay?


This is a partial fan wiring, I'm just trying to show the fuse and relays. That fuse circuit is hot all the time. not only check the fuse, check voltage on fuse circuit, hot all the time, use a test light.
Check for applicable trouble codes, Your coolant temp sensor is involved. On the load side of high-speed relay, the left side in picture, use proper size jumper wire, between the two terminals with relay unplugged, if the fuse is good, voltage, the fan/s should run? If they run, at least the fan motor is working and ground for the fan should be ok. If it runs with jumper, the problem is on control side of relay, either voltage or ground.

I have a 2005 dodge neon that will crank but wont start. I have replaced the cam shaft sensor, crank sensor and the coil pack. Iam also not getting spark to the coil pack. Any suggestions?


Primary voltage to several systems, including the ignition coil, dark green wire with orange tracer. That voltage comes from asd relay. There is a fuse for asd relay. To check for voltage the engine has to cranking. The control side of asd relay, the computer has to ground it before it will energize. Did you check wiring circuits for cam and crank sensor connectors before replacing sensors? Are there any applicable trouble codes?
Are you ok with testing wiring circuits?

Where is the location of my starter relay ********* fuse on a 2003 Chrysler Sebring sedan


WARNING: CHECK TO ENSURE THAT THE TRANSMISSION IS IN THE PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION WITH THE PARKING BRAKE APPLIED.

RELAY TEST
The starter relay is located in the Power Distribution Center (PDC) in the engine compartment. Refer to the PDC label for relay identification and location.

Remove the starter relay from the PDC as described to perform the following tests:
  1. A relay in the de-energized position should have continuity between terminals 87A and 30, and no continuity between terminals 87 and 30. If OK, go to Step 2. If not OK, replace the faulty relay.
  2. Resistance between terminals 85 and 86 (electromagnet) should be 75 ±5 ohms . If OK, go to Step 3. If not OK, replace the faulty relay.
  3. Connect a battery B+ lead to terminals 86 and a ground lead to terminal 85 to energize the relay. The relay should click. Also test for continuity between terminals 30 and 87, and no continuity between terminals 87A and 30. If OK, refer to Relay Circuit Test procedure. If not OK, replace the faulty relay.
RELAY CIRCUIT TEST
  1. The relay common feed terminal cavity (30) is connected to battery voltage and should be hot at all times. If OK, go to Step 2. If not OK, repair the open circuit to the PDC fuse as required.
  2. The relay normally closed terminal (87A) is connected to terminal 30 in the de-energized position, but is not used for this application. Go to Step 3.
  3. The relay normally open terminal (87) is connected to the common feed terminal (30) in the energized position. This terminal supplies battery voltage to the starter solenoid field coils. There should be continuity between the cavity for relay terminal 87 and the starter solenoid terminal at all times. If OK, go to Step 4. If not OK, repair the open circuit to the starter solenoid as required.
  4. The coil battery terminal (86) is connected to the electromagnet in the relay. It is energized when the ignition switch is held in the Start position and the clutch pedal is depressed (manual trans). Check for battery voltage at the cavity for relay terminal 86 with the ignition switch in the Start position and the clutch pedal is depressed (manual trans), and no voltage when the ignition switch is released to the ON position. If OK, go to Step 5. If not OK, check for an open or short circuit to the ignition switch and repair, if required. If the circuit to the ignition switch is OK, see the Ignition Switch Test procedure.
  5. The coil ground terminal (85) is connected to the electromagnet in the relay. It is grounded through the transmission range sensor only when the gearshift selector lever is in the Park or Neutral positions. Check for continuity to ground at the cavity for relay terminal 85. If not OK with an automatic transmission, check for an open or short circuit to the transmission range sensor and repair. It is grounded by the PCM if the conditions are right to start the car. For automatic trans. cars the PCM must see Park Neutral switch and near zero engine rpm. For manual trans. cars the PCM only needs to see near zero engine rpm. To diagnose the Park Neutral switch of the trans range sensor refer to the transaxle section for more information. Check for continuity to ground while the ignition switch is in the start position. If not OK and the vehicle has an automatic trans. verify Park Neutral switch operation. If that checks OK check for continuity between PCM and the terminal 85. Repair open circuit as required. If OK, the PCM may be defective

Car wont start have replaced starter motor and relay and igniyion switch still wont start


What is year--make--model?
Make sure battery has a full charge and battery connections are all good. If your saying starter motor won't crank, check voltage and ground at the starter motor. Usually two voltage circuits at the starter, one comes from the battery, hot all the time. The other circuit goes hot with key in the crank position and in your case, I suppose wired through the starter relay. The relay has two circuits, the load side and control side of relay. The control side of relay needs voltage and ground to energize the relay. The load side of relay, in a diagram shows a line with arrowhead, when relay is energized, that arrowhead line moves to other terminal and that circuit carries voltage to starter. The voltage for load side of relay is usually hot all the time. I can't rule out neutral or clutch switch. The starter motor usually grounds through the engine block. If all voltage and ground circuit for the starter are good, I'd have to make sure the engine isn't seized.
Any testing at the starter, make sure tranny is in park or neutral and functional parking brake is set.

Did you check the EFI relay an circuit opening relay ? these relays power the fuel pump !
The circuit opening relay provides ignition positive voltage to the fuel pump. The circuit opening relay is controlled by the powertrain control module (PCM) and receives ignition positive voltage from the EFI relay. The PCM monitors the crank signal circuit, terminal C3-11, for voltage when the ignition switch is in the START (engine cranking) position. When the crank signal circuit indicates the engine is cranking the PCM energizes the circuit opening relay. The PCM also energizes the circuit opening relay whenever reference pulses from the crankcase position (CKP) sensor circuit are detected. If the crank signal circuit does NOT indicate the engine is cranking the PCM will energize the circuit opening relay based only upon reference pulses.

2002 taurus 3.0L OHV stalls when hot have replaced IAC,camshaft position sensor,fuel pump and there are no codes on engine stall occurs most often when slowing and turning


If you have to wait to restart its usually a faulty coil or ignition module.
Someone would need to troubleshoot the ignition system when the engine fails to start to proceed. Could be a faulty relay too.

Certainly sounds like a fan problem. I would check all your fuses, relays. Possible ECT (electronic coolant temp sensor) or even fan motor itself. Hope this helps,TJ

It would be best to start by having DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes checked ! Dealer or someother qualified shop that has a professional type scan tool , autozone or any other part store's tool will not read these codes .

Circuit Description
The heater and A/C programmer receives the requested temperature offset on CKT 831 (DK BLU/WHT) from the passenger climate control. The heater and A/C programmer controls the on and off status of the passenger climate control on CKT 1336 (DK BLU).

Test Description
Checks the temperature control (full hot) of the Passenger Climate Control. Also verifies the condition of CKT 831.
Checks the temperature control (full cold) of the Passenger Temperature Control. Also verifies the condition of CKT 831.
Checks the ON/OFF switch of the Passenger Temperature Control. Also verifies the condition of CKT 1336.
Checks the ON/OFF switch of the heater and A/C programmer. Also verifies the condition of CKT 1336.
Checks terminal condition of the heater and A/C programmer.

Cooling fans only run when gear is in park


Looking at a wiring diagram I see two relay's that control the cooling fans (has two ) High speed cooling fan relay , low speed cooling fan relay . Both relays are controlled by the PCM - engine computer . Your best bet , have it checked for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes . Could have control circuit problems .There are videos on youtube test relay controlled circuits . How to test at the relay base (where relay plugs into ) Test power an grounds an control . Do you know how the cooling fans work ? Coolant temp. sensor inputs temp to PCM . When coolant temp reach's 200 to 220 , the PCM will energize the relay's low speed then high if temp fails to come down . Can check this data on a good scan tool . Can even turn the fans on with a good scan tool .
