Firing order diagram on 1997Mercedes E420

I need help with finding which number is each cylinder on the 1997 Mercedes E420. Im trying to change the ignition coils on four of them because they are bad and need help finding out which ones are the numbers im looking for? Please help!!!

    I think I know what you are asking, but the firing order can be found on the top of the engine block off to your left as you face the engine. It can be found near where the ignition coils are located.

    I don't think that is the answer to the question he is asking. What number corresponds to what cylinder of the engine? If I am looking at the motor from the front, which cylinder is number one?...and so on. Do they start from left to right, front to back? I too have the same problem. I need to replace ignition coils 2 and 4. Can anyone answer this question?

I have a 1997 Mercedes S500 Coupe. The problem I have is that the number 8 coil and plug aren't firing. I have changed both coil and plug, but it's just not firing at all. My question is, could it be


when you say not firing have you removed the plug and checked for spark across the plug points. If you haven't done that then do so as misfiring can also be from faulty injector( blocked tip or faulty electronics)

Here is a diagram of the cylinder numbers and firing orders including the coil pack layouts for many Ford engines. Yours is center top & the firing order is 1,3,7,2,6,5,4,8. Hope this helps you.

Need diagram for firing order. Number 2 not firing. Need diagram for where leads attach to power pack.


For the 1995 Mercedes-Benz C-Class: C220, C280, C36
I do not know if you have the 2.2L; 2.8L or 3.6L Engine; however I have included all below.

Which one is cylinder 7 in a 96 mercedes s420?


Here's firing order diagram for your vehicle. Cylinders are numbered and arrow points towards front of vehicle. That should solve your problem. Please leave feedback if that solves your problem!
