2000 HOnda Passport with rough idle, how do I identigy a vacuum leak or any other problem which might cause a rough idle

You can use propane to find a vacuum leak take a bottle and put a rubber hose on it so you can direct it in specific spots and just let a little gas flow if you find a vacuum leak it will bring the RPM of the motor up slightly do not light the torch just let the gas come out

Runs rough under load


There can be many reasons why it runs rough under load:
1) low fuel pressure
2) bad injectors
3) vacuum leak
4) bad plugs
5) throttle body build up

have you tested anything on the vehicle yet.

Idles high when braking


Look for a vacuum line that is leaking, oyu canspray starting fluid around the vacuum lines when you hear a sudden change in the engine you have found your vacuum leak, Replace vacuum line accordingly.

Recently I had my 2000 gmc 2500 6.0 liter truck start running rough. I changed the spark plugs, checked the coil packs and replaced the fuel pumpand fuel filter. Still no change....Any suggestions?


ROUGH IDLING CAN BE CAUSE BY MANY THINGS.I AM LOOKING AT LEAKING VACUUM HOSES OR INTAKE MANIFOLD GASKET LEAK.DIRTY FUEL INJECTORS AND WORN ENGINE VALVES WILL CAUSE ROUGH IDLING.ALSO LOW IDLE SPEED CAUSE ENGINE TO RUN ROUGH.

REPLACED COIL PAC RUNS ROUGH


ROUGH IDLING CAN BE CAUSED BY VACUUM LEAKS.LIKE THE INTAKE MANIFOLD GASKET.OR VACUUM LEAKS FROM HOSES.LOW COMPRESSION CYLINDERS WITH BAD VALVES.LEAKING EGR VALVE GASKET.DIRTY CLOGGED FUEL INJECTORS WILL CAUSE ROUGH IDLING.

Vacuum Leak on a 2000 Honda passport


Replace upper intake gaskets. They are made of metal and plastic. A common problem. Do not remove the very top plenum cover gasket.

How do I check for a vacuum leak? and fix


sounds like a mass air flow sencer. a vaccum leek should be easy to find with a rouch ideal. just move and incinte around the line or use your hand and feel for some sucktion. i know easier said then done but have faith.

Check the intake manifold gaskets for a vacuum leak.
