You must locate and press the reset button on the inertia switch they change the locations of these switches around so much it is hard to say where it is but a place to start is where the passengers feet go behind the carpet at the top on the lower part of the firewall, if the inertia switch is not there call up the service dept. at the dealership they will be able to tell you where to find it. If the fuel pump does not run for two or three seconds when the ignition key is turned then the pump is probably bad but to besure check the fuel pressure at the fuel rail access schrader valve, pressure reading should be no lower that 30 psi if it is change the pump after locating and pressing the reset button on inertia switch.

fuel pressure regulator is what is in between the pump and the rails. it sounds like your regulator is restricting fuel flow

The best place to get this will be from a ford tractor dealer or from a tractor manual.The good thing about this is that most tractor engine ran similar fuel system set up so if you another tractor of the same age and HP you will probable be able to see how things are set out

If the fuel pump is bad on a 2000 ford expedition. will you still hear it prim up?


that would suggest it is running but if filters are getting plugged up the fuel still would not get to the engine

Are you hearing the pump run when you turn the key to ON? If not, you may need to reset the emergency fuel shutoff button. OR it might be a fuse or relay .
If you hear it run,it should prime right away. don-ohio (:^)

How do i prime an oil pump on a 460 ford engine?


If it's lubricating oil, you don't need to prime, it is self-priming. If you have a diesel engine, and you are speaking of the diesel fuel and filter pump system, then you should have a manual pump on top of the fuel filter that when pushed down and released, will suction fuel from the tank and push through the filter and to the injection pump. Although, most large trucks use an electric "lift pump" which does this automatically. So if you can be more descriptive of your problem it will help us to help you.

Hi, You need to connect a hand priming pump between the fuel supply pipe & the fuel filter keep squeezing the pump until it becomes firm. continue squeezing the priming bulb durin engine cranking.

HARD TO START IN THE MORNING AFTER THAT STARTS GOOD RUNS GOOD 1984 FORD ECONOLINE VAN V8 NOT GETTING FUEL IF YOU PRINES CARB FIRES UP QUICKLY


with a vehicle this old one or more of the rubber fuel hoses may have cracks in it causing air to be pulled in and losing its prime to the carburetor. also the pump may be worn out inside causing this problem. the carburetor has a accelerator pump on it that may be worn and this is why you have to prime it to get it going. have you done a fuel filter in a while? hope this gets you started

Ran out of gas and not getting gas to carberator after adding gas


Hello there:
If you have tried priming the fuel pump by turning on the key and listening for the fuel pump to be running if it is it may just need to be primed with a hand priming pump untill you get fuel
but if you still dont get any fuel i would check out the fuel filter to see if it is clogged and needs to be replaced
to locate the fuel pump and filter go under the drivers side and look at the frame of the vehical not quite half way back and you will see the fuel filter and just in front of this about 10 inches towards the engine will be the fuel pump ok>

How do you prime the fuellines on a 6.0 turbo


Hi,remove fuel filter fill it this should get ya enough fuel so it will start and continue to pump fuel ,riding system of air and system will be primed,Good luck.

I am assuming the tractor is a diesel unit. There will be what they call a banjo bolt coming off the injector pump. Fuel passes through this piece. Some of them have a little plastic screen inside them that gets clogged up with debris. Remove the banjo bolt and remove the screen and blow it out with compressed air. Then use you lift pump to manually prime the system before starting. Good luck.

FORD DIESEL WILL NOT START


This system should be self priming, however if it did run out of fuel, I highly recommend changing the filters.After doing so have an assistant turn key to run as you listen for fuel lift pump running,(under drivers side floor attached to frame, one of the fuel filters is part of pump,the other filter is on top of engine) Could have hurt pump by running dry. They are notorious for hard start after filter change and/or out of fuel.Hope this helps.
