SOURCE: Black smoke coming from tail pipe when

You say when starting, I presume you mean when the engine is cold? Black smoke is usually a sign that the engine is burning too much fuel but when it's cold this quite normal as the choke richens the fuel/air mixture to start the cold engine.
If it's still smokey when warm then it could be numerous things from a dirty air filter to a faulty cold air sensor giving the ecu a false reading. I would have the car serviced & if no improvement then leave it into a garage with diagnostics & they should be able to where the fault lies.

its due to the dew or the wet condition prevailing in your area, idle the car for sometime, then you can notice the white smoke disappearing.. :)

Car backfire smoke and spark came out tail pipe 2003 saturn ion

! Your injectors are floading the engine with too much gas. may be an injector stuck open, but not all of the fuel is burning in the engine and its running into the exhaust system, A hot catalytic converter ignites the excess fuel causing it to ignite and spark out your tail pipe. It can cause a huge fire. Dont drive it until its fixed.

Car blows raw fuel from tail pipe

Hello,

If you can get the car to Orielly's or Autozone they will check the OBD1 system for free to help you fix the problem.

This sounds like the fuel is not burning in the combustion chamber due to a lack of spark, excess fuel and smoke. On vehicles with a coil pack for every cylinder you would replace the coil pack but on your vehicle you have two coil packs, one for each side. If a coil pack is bad this would cause your problem (left or right). The auto parts people should be able to help you further, but I think this is the problem. (I had a similar problem).

Good luck!!!

I have an old slant 6 carburetta engine and when i rev the motor it blows alot of grey smoke out the tail pipe

Sounds like the valve guides are worn. They will wear excessively due to the fact that
the gas currently sold has less lead content than what was sold when these motors
were manufactured. This also affects the rings as well. You could have the heads
rebuilt with new valve guides that are designed for the new fuel. The lead acted as a
lubricant. Also given the age of that engine, I would rebuild the carbeurator as well
if it exhibits black smoke, and replace the choke during rebuild. A sticking choke
will make it hard to start and plenty of black smoke. Hope this helps.

Engine surges, black smoke from tailpipe, and excessive fuel consumption

Hi,black smoke from tail pipe is unburned fuel ( excessive fuel consumption ) so your not firing on all cylinders!!! ( that's where the surging is coming from ) if i recall the 88 model has a carburetor.( not tbi,or injected) but either way its going to be in the spark! start with the easiest/cheapest and work your way up... will be like a #1.bad spark plug wire, or #2.bad plug, #3.bad distributor cap,#4.bad distributor rotor,#5 bad electronic distributor module. will be one or more of those items that's bad.......good luck..yz-maniac

My 92 ford is using excessive gas and has a bad gas smell with alot of smoke coming from tailpipe after i add gas

If the smoke comming from the tail pipe is black your running rich. If thats the case the entire fuel system has to be ckecked out. Injectors could be leaking, a bad pressure regulator, stuck return line ,a coolant temp sensor could be telling the ECU that the engines cold give her more gas. I don't recommend doing fuel service unless your qualified to do so for the obvious reasons.
If the smoke coming out of the tail is grayish you have a bad head gasket. If the smoke coming out of the tail is blue you have engine oil getting into the combustion chamber. keep me posted

Smoke comes out of tail pipe when car is accelerated in park. Not really blue but a bit excessive.

If the smoke is black it is a rich fuel feed condition, if the smoke is a blueish color the valve stem seals must be replaced.
