Need to check to see if there is a shut off switch and to see if there is gas in the cylinders and the fuse for the air bags is good

I would recommend going to and taking a look at there conversion kits. these convert you from the airbag to a powder coated American made steel coil spring that is guaranteed to last the life of the car. Airbags and compressors are constantly having to be replaced. Also something alot of people don't know is that theses air suspensions are not meant to be in temperatures above 90 Degrees or below 40 Degrees. That is most of the world. The temperature will cause you to replace alot of bags. and typically when your replacing a bag you are going to have to replace the compressor to because the bag had a hole or small crack in it causing the compressor to over work and it will die. There are several ways to fix this. On some of the Air ride models you can put in regular springs and replace the Air bags. To work with what you have, you need to diagnose the bad parts and then make your decisions.

Your Air ride has a diagnostic plug like the kind you hear about for the engine. You need to take it to a Body shop or Independent or even a Dealer and see what parts you car needs. Some Autozones and Oreillys might have this specialized scanner for the Air ride.

The Air pump can be obtained used at Salvage yards. So can the Suspension bags and any switches you need. Some yards are now giving 1 year free exchange warranties. Others are 30days to 90days. You will need a Repair shop who is willing to use Used parts. But you may not have a bad pump with the other problems you are having. You can even get rebuilt Air bags.

You can expect the pump to be slow if the air is being released as fast as the pump is putting it in. There is an electric switch in each corner of your car which can bleed off the air. You may only have 1 bad switch. This is why an accurate Diagnosis is important to saving you money.

If anyone has jacked up your car without turning off the Air ride, it is very easy to throw the switches out of adjustment. You may only need to adjust and not replace the switches. The adjustment procedure needs to be done on a surface like the body shops use. This would be a verified flat surface or a Frame machine. If you had one wheel sagging it would be pretty easy to work on the one side. But with your symptoms it could be anything.

About the only thing you can do is look under the car while it is running and listen for escaping air. It is not going to be easy with the engine and pump running.

Air suspension will not deflate

You need to find someone with a scan tool that can access the air suspension and manually cycle the individual springs to restore level. As a word of advise, turn the air suspension switch off, before you hoist the vehicle. This will prevent the compressor from inadvertently filling the air springs.

I have a 1994 lincoln mark viii. the front air bags keep deflating and sometimes stay up. every now and then you can hear the pump and it makes weird noises and will not pump at all. its like i am driving...

Unfortunately, it sounds like the air compressor for your air ride system is not working. But before you replace make sure that the height sensors haven't gone out which would bleed deflate the bags. SunCore Industries has about the best prices for the air compressor, dryer and air struts and bags.

Changing them is no picnic, but there is plenty of information at SunCore on step by step instructions to do it.

I have a 96 Mark VIII and have had to replace the rear bags and two height sensors and the air compressor so far, but when they work as designed they are a very smooth ride. A friend went with the replacement non-air ride and there is a big difference in how it rides.

My rear air bags are too high and will not deflate. The sensor is connectod ok on the rear arm. How can I deflate it manually. It is on a 1994 mark VIII

you can remove the rear lines at the air bags to deflate. most likely the problem is the air suspension control module is not turning the venting valve on to release the air from the bags.

How Air Bags Work To have a frontal (driver or passenger) air bag deploy, certain criteria must be met. One of these criteria is that the frontal impact must be within a 60-degree window, occurring within 30 degrees from the vehicle's centerline. Another key element is that the crash forces are equivalent to a head-on collision with an immovable barrier at 10-15 miles per hour. Because a typical automobile accident only lasts about 0.125 (1/8th) of a second, air bags deploy within 15 to 20ms after the initial crash impact. To create a protective cushion between the occupant and the vehicle's interior, the air bag inflates at speeds up to 200 mph within approximately 30ms after impact. This allows the occupant to contact a fully inflated bag within approximately 45 to 50ms after the initial crash impact. Approximately 100ms after impact the bag deflates.

My licoln navigator front suspension is not working..stays deflated

First, you should have a warning light telling you it is not working. There is a switch for the air suspension underneath the glovebox-right hand side or in the rear hatch area on the left panel..make sure it's on. If all 4 air bags are deflated it could mean the air pump or actuator is malfunctioning.

you could redirect the hoses to the trunk and then connect a tee piece and pump them as you like.

Front passenger side air bag deflated...

Disconnect the battery for 10 minutes and let the system reset, it should correct itself, if not a trip to the Ford dealer is in order, you could have ruptured the air spring
