Bad news. When the oil light comes on, it means the engine needs immediate attention. Now you need a new engine.

When the oil light comes on it could mean several different thing, Low Oil pressure or Oil temp. too High/Low If the Oil light came on it means Immediate attention should be brought to the car, by checking Oil levels and seeing if it needs more oil or if you need to drain some oil out of it(most likely need to add) from there normally you would have it checked out by a garage to see if you have an oil leak(i.e. a blown head gasket checked by a simple compression test) If the ticking sound could be a several Things also. Rod Knock or Piston slap are things that can happen with low oil levels. You will most likely need a new engine if you have the money to replace it, otherwise you can try and drive it until the engine blows then you would NEED to replace it but just keep up on the oil levels and make sure the noise doesn't get worse.

sounds like lower end bearing damage (connecting rod) when oil level drops at interstate speed a connecting rod bearing will seize very quickly thus causing the bearing to spin in the rod and enlarge clearance . that is the knocking sound you here .

Check the back brakes . I believe you have drum brakes in the back. The brake hardware. ie..Springs, clips.. come apart sometimes. And this will cause the clicking noise you hear

Ok i got a 1991 ford f-150 with the 351 5.8L with 242xxxkm's on it. i know what a lifter tick is, but i want to make sure, the guy before me put headers on it and there are a few header bolts missing, and...

It does sound like a lifter tick. You can have fine oil pressure right up till the lifter blows a hole in your pan. The fact that it gets louder as you accelerate really makes me think that it could be the problem. Does it get louder as the vehicle warms. If so you might have a big problem. Your air problem maybe blow bye from improper installation of pistons. Not to sure bout that but the tick I would worry about.

Engine knocking, valve ticking loud in engine, when idle or drivi

Make sure the oil level is good, and have the oil pressure check by a garage or someone who can, by using a external gauge to see what the actual oil press is. Low oil pressure will give you the ticking, start there.

2001 Buick Century Ticking Noise

Okay, lets hope it is something simple. Remove the underhood light bulb. At night, in the dark, start the engine and look under the hood. You may be able to see sparks jumping. This would be bad wires. If you can see where the spark plugs go and one has a spark jumping it is just one bad sparkplug. Turn off car-replace underhood bulb.
If you see no sparks then it is most likely the valve train. If you have adjustable lifters they need someone to tighten them up to specifications. If they are not adjustable you may need to replace worn parts.
Make sure you keep fresh and plenty of oil in the engine. It can not repair worn parts but if the oil is low or dirty you will have bigger problems.

Ticking when the accelerator is pressed

it may sound like the clutch but this problem has nothing to do with the clutch. these motors are notorious with machinists. The oiling system is lousy, you are most likely throwing rod #6 in the motor.
as the machinist up the street from me has noted that everyone that he has done was rod #6 being thrown.

problem here is a ticking to one is a knock or a tap or a thud ect to others so of my experiance with engines if its a ticking that gets louder with the engine getting warmer its got to be the tappets its the only thing that would get louder if it gets louder when accelerating it could be ignition timming causes pinking most other things on engines that cause ticking sounds could be something catching fuel pumps cause a ticking noise but are not normally affected by engine temp yates210456
