Question about 1997 Toyota Camry

Fuse keeps blowing and gages stop to work the car will run hot intill new fuse is back in

I have a fuse that keeps blowing in my 1997 toyota camry 4dr.The radio comes on fuse blows.I have replced the safty nuturl switch because the fuse would blow when put in drive. now the fuse blows when car cramks up,then the gages stop worling

    gages fuse blows, every time the ign. switch is turned on,p/w.rpm,brake lite,all gages do not work, have repl fuse, p/w relay, fuse box,disc radio, unpluged tail/brake lites ect

You got a grounded wire. check the wiring in the back of the radio if its custom radio i can almost gaurentee thats what it is. however electrical aint my best area. lemme know if i helpd any.

Issue of fuse constantly blowing.


Is the fuse correct amperage rating. There is to much power going to fuse. If it is the correct fuse you have a short most likely ? wire touching metal. The power lose is because this is main fuse.

Toyota Camry 1997, 4 cyl, when ignition is turned on, the fuse for cluster instrument blows instantly also alternator not charging , but the alternator has been checked and is good.


their is a shout in one of the wires running from the alternater start at the alternater and work your way back from their. the alternater will test good as it shuts down for safty so the car will not just keep produceing electricity and start burnning wires.

Regulator in alternator obviously faulty, have it bench tested & fixed or replace alternator, and cure your problem.

You need to inspect the whole wiring harness for chafing/pinched wires. Something is exposed and shorting out.
