Trying to locate the starter on my 1991 daihatsu rocky

The starter is located on the right hand side of the engine just behind the motor mount. It is attached with two bolts on the transmission bell housing. There is one large wire to be disconnected and one smaller wire. It is easiest to remove the starter with the battery removed for extra room.

How do i replace my own starter on my 1987 licoln town car?

1. Raise the car and support it.
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
3. Crawl under the car and locate the starter. It is easiest to do this by following the positive power cable from the battery down to the starter.
4. Remove positive cable from starter.
5. Remove wires from solenoid.
6. Remove bolts holding starter to the transmission bell housing.
7. Remove the starter.

Installation is the reverse of removal.

Hi there, im trying to figure out where my starter is in my 2004 hyundai elantra

The starter motor is located below and back towards the firewall of the thermostat housing, remove airbox to see it. Easiest way to find it would be to follow the large gauge black (negative) wire leading from your battery, down towards the engine. This will connect directly to the starter.

Need pictures of starter location on the car engine

This web site won't allow that much bandwidth to be sent through this Email. So I will attempt to explain where to look and what a starter looks like.Starters are located low and on the front of most transverse engine(front wheel drive) American cars. The easiest way to find it is to trace the battery cable from the "+" side of the battery. This most commonly used cable is red, about the size of your pinkie finger. You'll need to jack the car up and put it on jack stands for support.NEVER crawl under a vehicle supported by only a jack.Remove the negative cable from the battery (black cable with a " - "by the post).Trace the other cable marked positive with a " + " down to the starter. You'll need to remove any engine covers from underneath to get access to the starter.Next remove the cables and wires from the starter itself, mark their locations if it will help.Personally I use a digital camera and take pictures from every angle, load them on my computer for later viewing. Also,if you blow up the picture, you can find those hidden bolts you can't see.Now simply remove the attaching bolts and remove the starter.

94 toyota carolla starter clicks eventualy starts

You have two options: replace the starter (easiest, but most expensive), or replace the contacts (cheaper, but more work involved).
In any case, you have to remove the starter. Disconnect the battery BEFORE you start. Locate the starter and remove the wires going to it. The starter is held onto the transmission with 2 large bolts. Remove both, and slide the starter out.

If you want to change the contacts, observe the starter, locate a metal plate held on with 3 bolts. Remove the bolts and the plate. You will now see a plunger, and 2 copper colored contacts. Those are what needs to be replaced. Changing the contacts is easy, just do one at a time, and ensure that all insulators are installed properly on reassembly.
