Question about Cars & Trucks

1 Answer

I have a 1994 Toyota 4 runner that the lights work on dim when you flip them to bright they go out but the light on the dash says they are on. And when you test the plug for power it has power on both sides of the plug for bright and one side for dim (plug meaning the plug that you connect to blub)

SOURCE: 1997 toyota 4-runner, My battery

A development on my problem (battery and other lights turning on, making me think my alternator was out, and radio cutting out). My engine temp skyrocketed one day. I checked and my radiator was quite low, and now after ensuring the radiator was full and the engine running at normal temperature, all the warning lights and alternator misbehavior stopped. I'm not sure the relationship except that it worked.. so far. (filling the radiator fully, that is).

SOURCE: Headlight one side works on bright the other side works on dim

Try swapping the headlight bulbs or buying a known good bulb and testing that way. Sounds like a shorted bulb filament issue.

I know this post is a bit older, but... You have to remove the right most vent. --To do this slide a thin, flat screwdriver on the tops and bottoms of the vent to press the spring clips. Behind it is one last bolt (10mm) that holds it on.
Hope it helps sammy

While drivig my headlights get bright then dim

It sounds like a possible problem with you alternator not providing enough volts/amps to keep the lights steady. If it one light, it could be the bulb going out - buy a bulb from your local auto shop and try that. If it is both lights, you should have your alternator and battery checked at a Toyota dealer, local repair shop or if your handy with tools and don;t mind the work, pull them out yourself and take them to a local autoparts shop where they can test them for free. If either fail the test, replace them.

Electral the dash lights are not working

check your dash light dimmer switch. it is usually by the headlight switch, it might of gotten bumped accidently. if this doesn't fix your issue then i need to know if all dash lights are out or just the ones in the instrument cluster.

I have a 1987 toyota 4runner and no running lights or dash lights . The tail light fuse is ok but still no dash lights or running tail lights break lights light up fine.

THE DASH LIGHTS ARE USUALLY CONTROLLED BY A SMALL THUMB WHEEL NEAR THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH ON THE DASH. THAT IS A RHEOSTAT, THAT MAKES THE DASH LIGHTS BRIGHT & DIM. REPLACE OR BYPASS IT.

what lights? headlights? dash lights? I would check the connections. If its the starter usually you will hear a heavy "click" when you turn the key.

1994 toyota 4 runner rear lights

Your wiring could not have been checked thoroughly. Heres an easy solution. Establish if the earth (-12v) to the bulb holder is stable. If it is then run a new wire from the front park lamps to the rear. That will solve your problem. Remember to cut off the original wire that goes to the rear and insulate it well.
