My 1984 Chevy C10 pickup wont kick down in passing gear

I will assume you have a TH350 transmission? If it won't go into passing gear when you floor it, will it go into passing gear when you manually downshift 1 gear? If it does then most likely either your shift cable came out of adjustment or your throttle body may be clogged preventing it from shifting automatically when you press the gas.

Xk jaguar tranmison passing gear problems

Most cars now days, passing gear is controlled by the ECM. Look at the throttle body. Two cables going to it? one is for passing gear. Governor in the transmission. Could be the cable or the governor. One cable, it's still the governor, have to drop the pan and replace it or the valve body.

Losing power going up hills

sounds pretty normal. what speed do you try out the passing gear? anything above 35-45 mph and it will feel like neutral. Passing gear is actually only 1st gear. When you press down the pedal, it forces the transmisson to shift into low gear.

Passing gear

no year,? a 1973 civic? id bet not.. but......
many of these cars, have 4speed, A/T some are M/T
passing gear is A/T so on many there is a P/S or N/S switch
on the console. that sets the shift points, normal or racing....
depending year, the older cars had a passing gear cable.
that can be sticking or broke or adjusted wrong.
no year, no joy, is my ploy, no joke.

Car misfires in passing gear

Are you sure you mean passing gear ?
Or when it shifts into overdrive ?
Passing gear would be when it downshifts from 3rd into second gear.
If the car is OBD2 the check engine light should be on if the miss is steady. If the light is on you can have the computer scanned to find out which cylinder is failing.

Has the transmission flushed and the filter been changed recently? That could be the problem of it not shifting into passing gear.

All passing gear is 2nd gear. look for disconnected linkage or cable at manifold. worst case scenario is manually drop it in 2nd when you want passing gear.
