Check valve clearances if needed(possible tight intake valve adj.)
Check base timing(follow instr. via under hood label)
Hope this helps.

No, disconnecting the sensor and seeing no change would be a indication the maf was bad. Your computer takes information from your mass air flow sensor (maf), o2 sensor, cam position, and knock sensor to regulate the correct mixture. I would suspect a bad o2 sensor upstream. Try taking off the o2 sensor and seeing if there is black carbon on the base of the o2 sensor. If it has black carbon on the base it could be a bad o2 sensor. This problem could also be easily solved by hooking up a mechanics diagnostic computer to pin point the problem. Sometimes, you can clean the mass air flow with a special cleaner to help it generate a more accurate reading.

My check engine light is on. it is pulling 4 codes P0302 P1670 P0174 P0171

code p 0302 is a misfire on no 2 cylinder
check that the plug lead is on properly, that the lead is operational
move the injector from 2 to another cylinder and see if the misfire follows the move
code p 0174 refers to system too lean bank 2===causes intake /exhaust leak---fuel pressure / pump---injector/s--AIR system--hose connection/s
code p 0171 refers to system too lean bank 1=== causes intake /exhaust leak---AIR system---MAF/VAF sensors---fuel pressure / pump---injector/s -- HO2S
You stated that you replaced the O2 sensor but that is different to the HO2S sensor , does a different job and controls the air/fuel mixture from the ECM
because it has banks 1 and 2 it is a v engine and you will have a HO2S in the exhaust manifold or before the cat converter for each exhaust
O2 sensors are after the cat converter and confirm the HO2S settings for the ECM
to put the lights out , use a scan tool to reset the ECM

Mass Air Flow Sensor Circuit High Input
  • Possible causes
  • Faulty mass air flow sensor
    - Intake air leaks
    - Dirty mass air flow sensor
    - Dirty mass air filter
    - Mass air flow sensor harness is open or shorted
    - Mass air flow sensor circuit poor electrical connection
  • Before replacing the mass air flow sensor, try replacing the air filter and cleaning the air flow sensor with low compress air or mass air flow sensor cleaner. Reset code and drive vehicle. If the code comes back, it may be necessary to replaced the mass air flow sensor.

ox is same as o2 and is an oxygen sensor which is located on the exhaust manifold lower side. These sensors tell how much gas fumes in exhaust and then tell computer how to adjust air/fuel ratio

The Mass Air Flow sensor is located in the tube running from air filter. It is attached to the throttle plate. It tells the car computer how much air flow is coming into car.

An average car sucks in 9000 gallons of air per every gallon of gas you burn up

Loss of power on acelaration

There's a lot on any car that can cause loss in power.
A few of them are:
Mass air Flow sensor
Bad O2 sensors
Old oil or sludged oil
Bad Gas
Clogged catalytic converter
Loss of cylinder pressure or compression

I would start with the cheapest tests/fixes first
oil: if you haven't already and don't know the condition of your oil, change it. If your oil has sludge in it then you could have a leacking head gasket.

Next up, If your gas is bad fill the tank about half way and use lucus oil octane booster, and for a second half a tank pour in some seafoam engine cleaner. It will clean your fueling system, injectors, and pistons/chambers.

If those too don't help: get a compression test on the cylinders. Not expensive to have done, but could be expensive to fix if there is something wrong or the compression is leaking.

Next, go to a muffler shop and have your catalytic converter checked. A clogged or bad Catalytic converter may trap exhaust and keep it from exiting your exhaust system.
While your there you can have your O2 sensors checked.

If all of that is fine, replace the O2 sensors and the Mass air flow sensor. These components control the air fuel ratio. If they are going out your engine won't ever get the right amounts of gas and air to run properly.

It's a lot, but my general rule of thumb for trouble shooting any issue with a car is to start with the cheapest fix and work your way up.

Misfiring

Well there are several things that could cause this problem...

1. one of the coils may not be firing.
2. the ignition module could be bad.
3. the mass air flow sensor could be tellign the car to run rich (too much gas)
4. if the car is equiped with a map sensor it could do the same as a mass air flow sensor.
5. fuel pressure regulator could be leaking at vacuum port drawing in more fuel than needed.
6. the computer itself could be bad as well.

The car either has a map sensor or mass air flow not both. The mass air flow would be right after the air cleaner housing usually a 4 wire connector. map sensor is normally located on the rear of the upper intake manifold with 1 vacuum line going to it with 3 wire connector. Hope this helps.
