Could be the Crank-Shaft Position Sensor. This is a dual sensor telling the engine when to fire the plugs. When it goes you would see the issue you describe. It will throw a code, so you should see this code if you check.

-Before replace the alternator. Test it first. If its good
the problem is " wiring" it could be touch ground.
Or start the car and turn every thing off then turn back on
1 at a time to see any change.

How often should my 1995 Aurora Oldsmobile get a tuneup.

you should have a tune-up done every 30-40 thousand miles(50-60 thousand kill).this is probably shorter than what a manufacture will say because they market low cost of repairs over time.but when the plugs are left in too long they will(can) seize in the heads causing more aggravation and money to fix.

1998 aurora oil pan leaking profusly looks like it is coming from the oil pan not sure

it's the oilpan gasket. it's a northstar motor. the caddys with the northstar do it to. mine does it as well. just go to autozone and get some leak stop :) within a thousand miles you'll be nice and dry. it's just a problem the motors had for a few years

The car is using 1 quart every 1100 miles and has only 110.000 miles on it

Although I have never had oil consumption in that range, I recall having seen someone whining about Saturn (I HATE SATURNS) while I was looking for a potential class-action lawsuit and they were using a quart every ~ 1500 miles on a car with some 20-30,000 miles and were also told that this was 'in the right range.'
That may be an indication of wear causing oil loss so it bears close watching.

My Saturn, purchased new, dropped a rod cap at 57,600 miles after eating thousands of dollars for many other failures. I would have been glad to see a 100k on it before it died . . .

'98 aurora shimmies 60,296 miles on car

Most shimmies come from tire/wheel/balance combos. Before your dollars go down on 4 tires(assuming you have good tread), rotate tires & if there is a change you can figure out the offending unit
