Question about 2002 Mitsubishi Montero Sport

2 Answers

I put new thermastat and new radiator in my montero sport 2002 v6 . I drove it over 70 miles and the temp guage stated rising. I got home and let it cool and took radiator cap off and had no fluid in my radiator. I filled it back up with fluid and let it run over ten minutes with hater wide open and the heater would never get to blowing hot air. I have no leaks and dont know if new thermastat is working right or water pump is bad. I just checked a few minutes ago and and i could put a llittle more fluid in radiator.

You might have air pockets in the system. Try lifting the car from the front to allow all the air to rise to the opening of the radiator.

SOURCE: 2002 Montero limited overheats can't find problem.

Sounds like the thermastat is stuck closed. The water in the engine would get very hot while the radiator remains cool.Don't drive the car this way as serious engine damage will occur.

How much transmission fluid do i put in my mitsubishi montero sport 2002 3.0l v6 wheres the best place to buy the fluid?

You need 9.8 quarts of Dexron III or later, for a dry fill. A wet service fill will be less, about 6-7 quarts. Autozone or any other auto spares outlet will have it.

What size tires does a 2001 mitsubishi montero sport v6 engine use please?

The tire size depends on the vehicle trim level. Below are multiple trim levels and their respective tire sizes.

ES 235/75/15
LS 255/70/16
Limited 255/70/16
XLS 255/70/16
XS 255/70/16

The best thing to do if the vehicle is available is to inspect the tire sidewall for what the current equipment is. There is also typically a sticker in the driver door jamb, center console or glovebox stating the proper tire size & inflation.

Heater temp guage does not work and takes to long for car to heat up

You may also want to check and see if the thermastat is working. If the thermastat is stuck open in cold weather car will take forever to warm up.This controlls the water flo from the engine to radiator.this will also make car run much colder(temp gauge will not register much change).

02 grand prix temp rises over 210 then drops back down. heater

dear friend-there is a couple of things you can do to find the problem, when the engine is cold remove the radiator cap start the engine then look inside to see if the water is circulating, all so look for bubbles in the water,if there is bubbles, you might have a blown head gasket,if there is circulation the water pump is ok,then get the engine up to working temp, then feel both the top and bottom radiator they should be the same temp,if not then the termostat is at fault
