My AC Switchs wont turn on but the ac is fully charged and the fan works changed the thermostat and still the ac wont work..please help!!

The Thermastat has nothing to do with your AC becoming on at all because the Thermastat has to do with radiator fluids going into the engine to keep its high temperatures in check not your AC. You need to check the connection of the switch with a multimeter to see if current is getting to it and it is not then check the fuse for your AC in fuse box so see if this fuse is blowned. If the fuse is blowned tells me that there is a short in the wiring to the AC switch.

My 93 Seville is overheating, the radiator fans will not turn on, the fuse is fine but im not sure where the relay fan switch is. Is this the issue or is there more that I dont know?

usually your fuse box cover has a diagram inside the cover but also if you have a maual too it should show in there too. You should check the thermastat because if this does not open up to allow the coolant inside the engine to keep it cool then its most likely the thermastat. The fans usually comes on at a much higher temperature then the thermastat comes open and then the fans comes on after that usually its like a double protection but there is a regulator sensor that is by the engine that sends the temperatures to the computer which regulates the engine temps and computer tells the fans to come on.

Where is the thermostate located on a 1998 cadillac catera 3.0 v6 engine

Hi Friend:

To Locate your thermastat, Open your Hood and look down at the top of your radiator. You'll see a Top Raditor Hose that goes from your radiator to your Thermastat Housing.

You'll see a Hose clamp on the Thermastat housing .

NOTE: before you loosen the Hose Clamp Make sure you your car is cooled down and remove your radiator cap to release any pressure that is in your system.

After the Hose is off you'll see a Domed shaped Housing that is your Thermastat Housing. Remove the Bolts that Hold the Housing on and Seals the Cooling System. From Leaking out of the Housing.

After removing the Housing you'll see your Thermastat .Just remove it and Clean up all old gasket Material so you can replace the gasket with your new one .But put in your new thermastat 1st.

Then make sure you seal the gasket with Gasket Glue. And Replace the Housing Bolts and Tighten up good and Sung.

Put back on your hose then clamp. And Refill your Radiator with Coolant.

This will get your new thermastat in and get you Ready to go .

Thanks for using FixYa Please let me Know how my Solution helped you.By Voting .

Thanks Again From: d_hubbs

Need to know how to replace thermostat

Hi: You'll first want to Drain your Radiator take your radiator cap off so when drain it the coolant will drain freely. Then Drain your raditor you'll find a Drain Tee outlet on the inside bottom of your radiator. And catch the Coolant in a Drain Pan. Standing in Front of your Vehicle you'll see a Hose connected to your Radiator(UPPER RADIATOR HOSE) take your Hand and follow it down to your Engine until you locat a Hose Clamp Remove the hose clamp and work off the top Radiator Hose.Where you removed the hose theres a Dome Shaped Metal Housing, with 2 bolts in it. Take those 2-Bolts out and Remove the Dome Thermastat Housing,Under it You'll Find your Thermostat it shuold come out with a little Resistance. Once its out, Clean Up The Thermastat Dome of any Gasket still left on it, and clean where you remove the Thermastat Surface. To put back just Reverse the Removal Be-sure your Thermastat is put in right and not up side down. Then get some Gasket Sealer Put a Little on the Thermastat Housing where gasket goes and some on the Enging surface and Install your New Thermastat,Be careful when Tightening the 2-Bolts on The Housing. not to Over tighten them. The torque Specs on the 2 bolts range between 10- 15 Foot pounds. You don't want to Strip,
After you get your New Thermastat in and your Radiator Hose on and Clamped.Make Sure you have closed the Drain outlet. then fill with coolant,if your coolant is old i recommend putting new coolant in. I hope this helps You.I;m Sure it Will, But please let me Know through FIXYA by Voting and a Testamony. This way I'll know that my solution was Helpful. Thanks From d_hubbs

My scerity sys went off and I my car over heats I think it needs a new thermastat

maybe your security system monitors engine temp ... it doesnt have to be the thermastat thats bad .. it could be the radiator fan switch or relay bad .. you can tell which by the following.
1. if it overheats only when idling or in heavy traffic but does not overheat while on the road (moving) then your problem is more likely the radiator fan switch, relay or fan motor ..
2. if your car overheats all the time even while driving then it could be the thermostat ..

check belts, coolent level and radiator clogging ..

Fan works ok blows cool air thermastat is ok

This could be that the actuator that opens the door in the heater is dead.. or the actual heater-core is bad. Which is costly and expensive.
