Remove rear pads and check caliper sliders are not sticking/siezed.if ok try doing a battery reset ie disconnect battery for 10 mins.you need to take to someone with diagnostic eqipment if that does not work to get fault codes out of park brake module
,the wiring is also prone to rubbing on the rear subframe and shorting to earth

It means your electronic parking brake has not been applied. You need to use the button on the centre console to apply parking brake ( upwards to engage, downwards to release)

    1. If equipped, remove the manual transmission shift knob by turning counterclockwise.

In the park position, the turn signal works, but w...

There has to be a short or a crossed wire in there somewhere.

    You handy with a multimeter?

Check voltages/shorts at the fuse box when the turn signal is on and off while having someone switch the car from park to drive. i'm guessing it's caused by a short or something in common with putting the brake on (because putting the car in drive requires you to apply the brakes first, causing the brake lights to come on, possibly overloading the fuse for the turn signal)

Also check the inside of the area where the signal bulbs are, could be crossed with the brake or shorted in there somewhere.

The bulbs also might have something in common internally, replace the bulbs if you haven't already. I think those bulbs can come on from a signal from the brake pedal (brake lights), but can also be activated by the turn signal.

Good luck with that, let me know how it turns out or if there are any developments

Why doesn't the eletronic parking brake work?

Try a reset of the park brake.
Make sure you have your radio code.!!
Disconnect the battery - leave for 10 Min's.
    Reconnect.
Turn ignition on. If fault has not reset - try the following
Apply foot brake (not too hard)
Apply park-brake switch following instructions on the message center.

Use this method for any park brake fault as most of the time it fixes the minor problems caused by glitches and low battery voltage.
    hope this helps good luck

My 1992 honda Accord wont shift out of park, the brake lights work still but have to use manual shift override button to get ouy of park

The interlock solenoid is provide with power by the Transmission control module (tcm) when the brake pedal is applied3f09359.jpg and then grounded by the gear selector switch in park. If you access the connector to the tcm, you can check to see if it's getting a ground signal and check the solenoid. Pull the harness connector off the tcm and apply 12v to the harness connector pin that leads to the white wire with a green stripe as seen in the diagram. If the solenoid clicks, you may have a bad tcm. If the solenoid does not click, you may have a bad solenoid, or bad selector switch. The tcm is under the front passenger footwell.

Daytime running lights no longer work after using handbrake.

When the parking brake is applied there is a switch that will cut off the daytime running lights, and they will not work as long as the parking brake is applied. If you have released the parking brake and they no longer work, either the switch that cuts them off is bad or the sensor for the lights is bad.

2000 daewoo won't shift from park and no brake lights

Sounds like the park/brake shift interlock switch is bad.

    Or

"An actuator solenoid and module assembly, located on the lower portion of the steering column, locks the shifter in Park whenever it receives a signal that the ignition switch is in the ON position. When the module receives a signal from the Brake On-Off (BOO) switch that indicates the brake pedal is depressed, it unlocks the shifter so that it can be shifted out of Park."

It says the most common failures in the system are the fuse and the BOO switch, and if they are fine, special tools are needed to diagnose.

To disable the system: Apply the parking brake, turn the ignition key to LOCK, then remove the key. Insert the key and turn it to OFF. Press the brake pedal. Shift to neutral, start the vehicle and select the desired gear.

1993 festiva will not shift out of park.

yes the part your referring to is called a brake shift interlock.if the solenoid has failed or is not getting voltage from the brake pedal switch than it will not allow you to shift from park.if you have your center console out, you can unplug the BSI solenoid and check for source voltage present while applying the brake pedal (ignition key on)if you have source voltage present and nothing from the solenoid than i would call it a bad solenoid
