SOURCE: handbreak light

Hi,

Often the handbrake light doubles up as an indicator light warning of either:

  • low brake fluid;
  • some of the brake pads are due for replacement.
Should this be the case, pls check the level of the brake fluid in the reservoir and/or check the brake pad thickness.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

SOURCE: brake warning light on,beeper sounds when car is driving

Sounds like the sound when you leave the handbrake on. The same light as the low brake oil level will come on with the handbrake. And the warning sound coming from the cluster will come on if you leave the handbrake on and start driving to warn you that you left it on. Guessing your handbrake is not on and that your brake level sensor on the master cylinder is good (on the cap) check your handbrake switch and the wires there. You can unplug it and try it like that or you might have to bypass the 2 wires in the connector together. I can't remeber if with the handbrake on if it closes the circuit or the opposite. Once you have the connector in your hand you can unplug it with the car running and see if the light goes off. If not you can jump the 2 wires and see then. Or just check the switch isn't staying stuck. You'll see more once the handrake console is off. Just look around the mechanism of the handbrake and you'll find the switch.

SOURCE: Handbreak light and stop light with a beep

Check the switch on your handbrake to see if it is loose or has been moved. They are usually somewhere close to the handle under your hand brake boot.

Do the ABS brakes function? If not, there is a fault with a wheel sensor or the ABS controller. Check the OBD Codes. You can get them scanned at Auto Zone for free. If there is no communication from the ABS control unit, that's probably bad and needs to get rebuilt. Cost about $150.00 if you send in your unit.
Good Luck

SOURCE: My brake pads got low and triggered the brake

On volkswagens and BMWs if you replaced the pads you need to insure you put the sensor back in correctly? It is easy to not get it in correctly or to damage the sensor when replacing the pads. I would replace the sensor as this is the case about 95% of the time. The sensor should be about $30 but depends where in the country you are.

hi Marc

SEAT Ibiza glow plugs heating warning light - your SEAT Ibiza is equipped with an automatic glow plug system. The indicator lamp lights up while the glow plugs are preheating. If the engine fails to start immediately, the glow plugs have not finished preheating. In this case, keep the clutch pedal depressed (or keep your foot on the brake if your vehicle has an automatic gearbox) until the engine starts. (applies to diesel cars only)

ABS and handbrake light beeps while driving

ABS warns you about a problem in your ABS System starting from the fuse, or relay and the other light is not for the hand break ! it's warning you about your break PADS.
So change your break pads and check your ABS system functionality.

This may be caused by low fluid in the master cylinder. Try topping up the master cylinder with fresh brake fluid that's recommended for your vehicle. 1_10_2014_2_26_42_am.png

Handbreak light on dash board remains on even while driving. Also at present fixing break pads had them bleed. Why is the light for the hand break on. Handbreak working just light remains on while driving

hi

it is either the switch under the handbrake is jammed or the fluid level is low or has air in the system, park the car on a hill both up and down to see if the light goes off. get back to me if you need more info.

This can be caused by nothing more than low brake fluid level. Check the level in the master cylinder. Add one the correct fluid as listed on the cap. If that is not the problem then you need to have your brake pads inspected.

Hand break warning light

if the fluid level is fine that means that there is a problem with the breaking system most the proportioning vale in the master cylinder. first i would suggest trying to bleed the breaks where you have had the pads changed. if it continues check the parking break switch to see if it is broken free
