Can someone tell me if the 2005 Mazda 6 2.0 diesel 136ps has a cambelt or chain? If it is a belt when should I replace it. I'm on 116000 km's.

Filipe, Gates is a timing belt manufacturer and they recommend changing belt every 100,000 KM. This is what is known as a interference fit engine, If the timing belt were to break, it could cause extensive damage to valve train. Through some searching, recommended Timing Belt change interval is 60/75000 miles or every 72 months. Check the attached links, instruction and guides, Good luck

2002 mits mirage, squeals like a pig when starting, calms down after a couple minutes, good for the rest of the day. Belts are in great shape. PS Clapton freak? "C1apton 15"?

Belts are in great shape. The condition of the belts doesnt always tell you it will squeak. Look at the belts with the engine running, one of them is sure to have a little vibration due to slippage, have that belt tightened up. Alternatively, before you even start the engine press against the belts with your fingers to test the belt tension to see how far you can push the belt in, it should not give very much, if it is a littlte baggy(moves more than 1/4 inch re tighten it

How do I stop my v-belt from making squeeling noises on my Toyota Echo 2004.

Squealing is usually an indication of belt wear. Check the underside of the belt for worn or "shiny" spots. If it's worn it's slipping and is most likely not only the cause of the squeal but could impact the charging and cooling systems.
If the belt is in good shape and/or has been replaced recently, it may just need to be tightened. All new belts develop some play after initial installation after they have "broken in". If the belt is in good shape and is tight, the problem most likely lies elsewhere (bad bearing in waterpump or power steering pump, or alternator) I hope you found this post helpful. Best of luck! Need to replace belt tensioner is a job some one can do on their or or best to take to a shop

A year make and model would help.

If you have basic mechanical abilities, about 45 minutes, and a little patience you should have any trouble replacing most Ford tensioners. If I knew what vehicle you had I might be able to help a little more.

I have a 1995 Dodge Neon, I am not a mechanic, nor can I afford to take it to one, with what I believe is a timing belt issue. When I try to start it up, I can hear and feel this horrendous rattle coming...

if you hear that type of noise u may have a broken timing belt, This car has what is called an interference engine, this means the piston and valves hit when the timing belt breaks, u will need to pull the cylinder head of course to fix the damaged valves, don't turn it (the eng) over anymore or u can break a piston. If u think you were lucky and the valves are ok the only way to check is to replace the belt and test the compression.
