SOURCE: Installed a new radio in a 2001 dodge stratus se dash lights out

Did you try adjusting the dimmer for your dash lights? Did it feel different - like the knob was no longer connected?? If so, try pressing the knob to re-align it up to the threading to properly seat it. Then try turning it all the way to the right, to the brightest setting. Or try turning the other way if there is still no illumination. Make sure you have the key in the ignition and turned on to the same location where your radio, wipers, and all other accessories work (test to make sure they are working before trying the dash lights). And of course, you need to be out of bright sunlight and in an area where you can clearly see when the dash lights come on, even in the event that they come on very, very dim.

So if this all failed, I hate to say it but it means you gotta take apart your dash which usually means numerous other parts that may overlap. Find a good diagram or step-by-step instructions for your particular model. Then it will be a matter of checking the bulb(s) and making sure any of the wires did not become disconnected or damaged...

Good luck. Taking apart your dash to get behind it cant be any more difficult with your Dodge than it was when I had to do it to a Toyota a couple months ago... I had to remove the console between the front seats to remove the auto shifter assembly that overlapped with the bottom section of the dash...
alot of time and effort all for one little bulb replacement.

2006 dodge stratus interior light stays on

There are several things that can cause this, but the most common is a broken door switch that keeps the circuit energized.
Second most common is a broken interior light fixture.
Both of these item as are cheap plastic, and both break and melt easily.
The door switches are not often easy to change, as they are hidden behind trim parts.
You may choose to pull the fuse for the dome lights whilst you decide to fix the problem, lest the battery die, or the dome light melts.
. God bless your efforts.

Battery light came on and 2006 dodge stratus makes a strange whirring noise. What is this? I just started last night

It sounds like the bearings in your alternator are going so it's charging your battery but no a 100%.

I have a 2006 Dodge Stratus. The radio powers on and off by itself while driving. If the radio is on along with the headlights it couses the headlights and interior lights to flicker on and off. Could...

It may be a battery issue but if the engine is on and this happens it may be an alternator issue. This could also be a wiring problem. Check for loose wiring or bad wires if the battery and replay checks out OK.

1997 dodge stratus dies when coming to a stop no warning just dies. Car will restart after cranking for a bit. then may stop again. Noticed that the alternator light comes on randomly and interior lights...

  • These cars loose memory for the idle when they loose voltage. So if the voltage suddenly drops it can just die like you say. The battery can read good voltage and be bad. The alternator could be intermittently working as well. Charging part time and other time not. If the alternator light flickered then it threw a code in your computer even if the light is off now. So you have a couple of things you can try but getting your car scanned will be what you may need to end up doing.
  • First start the car and get a multi meter and set it to DC Volts.
  • Now take the pos to pos and neg to neg on the battery terminals. If that multimeter reads.14 or more volts the alternator is good and If not it is bad.
  • The battery can have a volt test done and perform poorly under a load test.
  • Often times a part store will load test your batter as well as pull the codes from your car for free.
  • I suspect the alternator to be honest but going to the parts store or a trusted mechanic is going to give you the for sure reason for your car acting up.

Regards, Tony

2006 dodge stratus battery light on

Usually caused by alternator failure. If you have a voltmeter, start engine and check voltage at battery. It should be at least 14 volts. If not, replace alternator. If you don't have a voltmeter, remove the alternator and take it to the parts store for testing. If you have questions, please let me know.
