Hi I have just had the same problem on my cayenne s . Open the bonnet an look at the right arm assembly. You will see two nuts that bolt the left arm assembly to the splines. I found that the right was loose and that this controlled the left arm cam action of the wiper. I took it off, looked at the right nut which was very tight , disassembled this and looked into the assembly. All appeared ok so I bolted the nuts back on starting with the right one. There is a small clip behind the wiper arm which should be lined up before putting on the nut. As I tightened up the right nut I noticed that this controlled the cam action of the left wiper and made it work in sync with the right (drivers) wiper. Tightened up the other bolt, put the bonnet down and hey presto both wipers working again!! Moral of the story : check your nuts (and not just in the shower!!)

The left and right wiper are on the same fuse and same switch, as well as the same wiper motor. That being said- if one works and the other doesn't, the fault lies with the wiper motor itself, or with the wiper shaft (where the arm connects to the motor.)

A wiper motor has 2 output shafts that either wiper arm connects to. At the base of your left wiper arm is a small cap. (there's one on the right side too, but let it be since it is working!) Remove this and unbolt the wiper arm from the output shaft and pull outwards to remove it.

When you examine the assembly you will notice that the wiper arm and output shaft are splined, which allows the rotational movement of the output shaft to be transferred to the wiper arm. It is common for the contact area of these splines to become damaged. This is often caused by excessive drag on the wiper arm and blade. (ie running the wipers over a dry windshield, or trying to unstick a wiper blade that is frozen to the windshield)

The 1st test is to turn on the wipers and observe the now exposed wiper shaft. Does it spin at all? If it does then problem is damaged splines on the wiper arm. (the arm is made of much softer metal than the output shaft, which makes it easier to repair this problem.)

If it turns out that the splines are damaged the 1st thing to try is to clean them up a bit. I have had luck using a very sharp awl to trace the path of the splines. A locksmiths file is very useful if you need to reshape them a bit. After cleaning up the splines reattach the wiper arm and see if it works. If not the arm will need to be replaced.

Now, if you test to see if the output shaft is turning and it is motionless while the other side wipes away, then the wiper motor and assembly needs to be replaced.

When reinstalling the wiper arm do your best to make its position match the other arm. press it onto the shaft and run the wipers a bit to make sure it is where you want it before bolting it back up.

I have a right hand drive Cayenne Turbo (2004) and for about a year the passenger side winscreen wiper has failed to clear a section in the centre of the wiper. If you look closely at the blade when it is at rest you can see a small gap, so it can't clear the screen. I have tried tightening the bolts up, this helps a little (90% performance for a while), then after a few days of use they loosen off again and i am back to square one.
I have replaced the blades with new ones and changed them over, but still have the problem.
Any ideas? :)

This could actually be a fault in the quite a few different modules.
It could be the centre console buttons, or even the main module.
Unfortunately you need to get VAG-COM or VCDS to see the error codes.
I used a Ross-Tech cable and determined the issue was a failed module.
Any VW, Audi or Porsche service place can connect in and see what the car is reporting.

But this may be best to let Porsche run diagnostics.
Also if it is a module, dealerships tend to have to replace them.
As second hand modules have a CP protection lock on them.

Some aftermarket windshields will not work with the rain sensors. You may need to go back and have factory Porsche glass installed.

Windscreen wipers not working on my vw passat 2005 '05' but washers are working!

First time you must diagnose why windscreen wipers going slow and/or stopping.
If the windscreen wipers fuse is good:
In order to find out the cause of wipers stopping you can try follows:

1. Carefully extract the wiper arms from their axles (two pieces). In some cases you need to use an extracting tool. Heed of the windscreen !!!
2. Disassemble the plastic covers from the bottom of the windscreen.
3. With the bonnet up you can start the engine, (transmission in "N" or "P" position and parking brake on). Now you must switch on the control lever of the wipers, and go to the engine compartment. If the wiper motor runs let the wiper motor running for a few minutes and switch off. Go to the step 4. If the wiper motor do not runs you must check first the electrical feeding of the motor. It is necessary to unscrew three bolts of the mechanism and disconnect the electrical coupling (difficult assurance). If the electrical feeding is OK you must replace the motor - steps 5, 6, 7. If not you must check electrical connections, the control switch of wipers and electric cables.
4. Now you must check the two bearings of wiper mechanism with your hand. In the most cases the left bearing is out of order (is very hot). This is the most encounter fault of the wipers.
5. For have enough space to manipulation the wiper motor together with their mechanism you must extract the plastic cover of the engine computer box, and extract also the box screws. Then you can move slowly the engine computer box, just for a few milimeters.
6. You must disconnect the electrical coupling of the motor (difficult assurance), unscrew three bolts of the mechanism and extract together with the motor. You must move them slowly between windscreen and engine computer box until the wiper motor go out together with the mechanism. This is the most difficult operation!
7. Now you can repair the bearings, replace entire wiper mechanism or replace the wiper motor. It is not very simply, but it works.
Heed of the windscreen !!!
Refit all in reverse order.

possibly the wiper motor is out or the switch that controls this function has a problem itself.
